AHP won't run X10net app MSVCR100.dll not found
« on: February 21, 2011, 11:54:04 AM »

February 21, 2011
Please help me install my AHP software I did not have any issues until I tried upgrading to a new computer.
Order Number is: 33xxxxx Fri Feb 1 10:39:20 2008.
I’m moving my software to a new Windows 7 OS computer and cannot get AHP to install.  After trying many times I continue to get "Error Getting X10Net Interface".  I tried to uninstall it using Window uninstall or change a program function but I get an error here also.  I ran the ActiveHome Pro installer again as suggest on your support page but still got the same error.  So I deleted the AHP folder in the Program Files (x86) folder and the X10 folder in the Common Files folder.
I have rebooted and deleted the files several times (uninstall does not work.
I tried to run the X10net application I get the error “MSVCR100.dll not found”.
Launching the Services tool to access the Run dialog box Services.msc does not help because “X10 Device Network Service” is not there.
I also requested a new download and tried that several times yesterday.
The CM15A is working properly.
Devices Manager Information:
HID
 X10 Hid Device
USB controllers
  X10 USB ActiveHome (ACPI-compliant)
Is Working Properly and Windows has determined the driver is up to date.
About the Computer:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz 2.79GHz
12GB RAM
64-bit OS
THANKS’

Where on your system is MSVCR100.dll?   I run AHP on a XP Home system and it's not there.  I looked in Windows and Windows System, in ActiveHome Pro and x10.

What version of AHP are you trying to install and do you have any plug-ins?

Well in XP it is a Windows File.
In the System32 Folder.

You may want to try a Google search for MSVCR100.dll and Windows7.
Seems there is some problem on where the file was stored and where some programs expect to find it.

Thanks for the reply Dan and Brian

"Where on your system is MSVCR100.dll?"
X10net can't find it and a search yielded nothing.
I tried to run the X10net application I get the error “MSVCR100.dll not found”.

"What version of AHP are you trying to install and do you have any plug-ins?"
3.306 the newest version
it is a new install have not installed any plug-ins

I found this and will try it tonight.
The missing file is msvcr100.dll, to fix this problem you must download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package.

You may want to search your computer first.
I never install that package and I doubt many here have.
Is you Windows7 the 64 bit version?

Now I have it in c:\windows\system32 and I copied it to c:\windows\sysWOW64.
AHP still give me the same error but the x10net app in the common folder has a new error.

Found a link here helping another user in another thread, but reposting the basic info so the thread is current and complete technically speaking.

ActiveHome PRO is a 32 bit program.  Windows has some built in magic to handle running 32 bit applications in a 64 bit operating system, but it involves having 2 copies of most system components.  The 32 bit ones live in c:\windows\system32, the 64bit ones live in c:\windows\sysWOW64.  They are NOT THE SAME, even though the files are named the same, are sometimes the same size, same version, and there is almost no way to tell the difference between them.  For this reason you should NEVER copy files from c:\windows\system32 to c:\windows\sysWOW64 or the reverse.

The AHP installer does install the correct versions of these files normally, but if some kind of error is preventing it, you can also download installers from microsoft to create these files.  I can't post the URL because of security restrictions but if you Google for "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package" you should find it easily.  For X10 products you only need the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) version  (Currently.  We might make a 64 bit application someday).  Installing the x64 version won't hurt anything though.

I went back and did a full search of Windows\System\System32 and NO file named MSCVR100.dll is anywhere on my system and am running 3.310 with no plug-ins of any kind and AHP runs perfectly, X10nets.exe works perfectly.
