Title: Halloween Ghost?
Post by: steven r on October 27, 2006, 05:22:14 PM
I have simple macro that dims my front light and runs the fog machine under my Halloween display. Having previously experienced "ghost commands" that don't show up on the activity monitor, I already had added delays of 1 second as a work around to the AHP bug. It turns out a 1 second delay still isn't enough for this Halloween macro as I have 3 lights (C4, C8, & C11) on different codes come on.

Here's where it gets interesting... A 2 second delay doesn't fix the problem but two 1 sec delays do.

Interesting find. Have you tried a 3 or 4 second delay just to see if that works. There may be as much as a 1 second delay between the execution of the first delay and the second delay in the macro. Processing time.

Good point. I'll try that later. It would at least make the result logical.

I tested my display again this evening and one of the neighbors called the fire department. I thought we canceled the call but an ambulance and a fire truck showed up anyway. I thought by now all my neighbors had seen my display but perhaps it got stuck on. It does put out a lot of fog that really can look like a fire. So I'm laying low for the rest of this evening.

Although causing a "Truck to roll" is a serious thing, I did find the whole idea that *YOUR* Halloween setup caused it (via your "uninformed" neighbors) humorous... ;)

I have pictures but haven't figured out how to post them without a site to put them. Maybe I can email them to someone that could post them.

You can also create a *FREE* GeoCities account (tied to your *FREE* Yahoo! account - you do have one of those, right? ;) ) and put *ALL* your pictures there... :)

That way you can CONTROL where they go in your post using {IMG} {/IMG} and not be limited to file size limitations...

Thanks to KDR for Re-sizing and TakeTheActive for hosting them so long for me.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here goes. I have a new fire department only a mile from my house. I may go by let them know they might get a 911 call late Oct. Better yet I might post a notice for my neighbors when I'll be testing so they don't call the fire department this year.

Front light dims and foggier runs when trick or treaters approach.

I have 9 pictures and each is too large to upload by themselves. I guess it will have to wait till I have some more time to shrink them.

Looks like I'm the only WACKO "currently setup" to (at least) attempt to show a few of Steven's pictures...  :D

P.S. Don_N - I *KNOW* that they're TOO WIDE! :o ::)  Either Steven or I will *FIX* them in a day or so... ;)

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP KDR! :D

If you want to email the images to me and tell me what size you want them I will resize them and mail them back to you. Also if you need them uploaded I can put them on my server and you can link back to it if you want

Hey Pokey!...
I just sent the pictures to KDR.

I know I need to join the 20th century and get myself my own own web page. Maybe soon.

Thanks to both of you for the help.

Sorry bud! :( Too late!! ::) We're already done! :o  :D

Well, you *ALREADY* have xxMB times # of E-Mail IDs of Web Page storage from your ISP. Then, you have the 15MB of Yahoo! GeoCities that I previously mentioned. You just have to *START* using it! ;)

Thanks to both of you for the help.

You're welcome! :)

...I know I need to join the 20th century and get myself my own own web page. Maybe soon.

And it only took:

From and including: Sunday, November 5, 2006
To and including: Monday, June 25, 2007

It is 233 days from the start date to the end date, end date included

Or 7 months, 21 days including the end date
Alternative time units
233 days can be converted to one of these units:

    * 20,131,200 seconds
    * 335,520 minutes
    * 5592 hours
    * 33 weeks (rounded down)
