Title: Interface with some alarm devices
Post by: 320vu50 on February 03, 2007, 09:17:22 AM
How about an interface module that will allow certain devices that are designed for alarm only to be used for X10 contorl features. THe one that would be most valuable is the door/window switch device. It can send both on and off signals to the system for several reasons. Door/Gate/Window opens - light goes on; closes - light goes off. Great for cabinets, closets, garages, sheds, and driveways.

This is what the powerflash units do.

There is a set of contacts on the powerlash.
If you short the contacts the powerflash will send an X10 code.
The powerflash can be the trigger for modules or macros.

I have wireless motion sensors hooked up to a powerflash unit that then triggers all kinds of lights.

The powerflash units have several other modes also.

I have info on a couple of my projects on this page.

It can also be triggered by a low voltage on the terminals along with the dry contact setting.
I use one to trigger a chime module when the doorbell is rung and I don't hear it in the cellar.
