Title: Windows Vista and SDK, CM15A
Post by: hkactive on February 16, 2007, 03:47:34 PM
Has anybody got the SDK to work on Windows Vista. Received a report from a customer saying that the x10drivers.exe failed to install the drivers for the CM15A on a new installation of Windows Vista.

With Windows Vista selling on the computers from WalMart, BestBuy, Staples, etc. us developers are in a world of hurt without a viable installer for the CM15A on the Windows Vista platform.

The CM15A runs fine under Vista.

Reports that it has no problems recognizing the CM15A are already coming in.

The VA11A is another story altogether, and it's not good.

OK:

Installed a fresh install Windows32 Vista Basic Home. Used X10Drivers.exe run in WindowsXPSP2 compatibility mode.
Also, tried the ahscript_setup.exe file. Both of these files only install successfully on Vista when run in the WindowsXPSP2 compatility mode--not exactly a polished, professional installation to have an error popping up saying that our installer has failed. But at least it works.

Vista installed the CM15A when plugged into the USB Port with no problems after running the above.
Installed VB6 on Vista and installed the ActiveHomeScript 1.0 Type Library.

Ran ActiveHome1.SendActiion "sendrf" , "g2 on", etc.

The CM15A works in VB6. I must have another problem. Will try to track it down.

Okay, here's our company's Billiard's Program with the X10 CM15A controlling the table lights. Now working under Vista!
