Title: X10 VK82A Video Sender Question
Post by: gaijingaijin on March 12, 2007, 06:32:04 AM
I'm having problems due to interference/distance with my newly purchased X10 VK82A Video Sender/Receiver Unit.  It works fine when I set it up both sender/receiver within 3-5 feet of each other.   I have read the instructions thoroughly and still have problems when I attempt to use it at the intended distance (well under 100 feet).

Will the VK82A Video Sender work with the X10 RF Extender (Model SR731)?

If you have a wireless network or a 2.4 Ghz phone they can interfere with the sender.
If so try all the channels on the sender and maybe turn off the other devices as a test.
Is there anything between the sender and receiver in the final installation positions?
Like a wall etc.?

Brian

Hi - Thank you very much for your assistance.

Okay - now for the update.  I turned off my 2.4GHz wireless router and was able to use the X10 VK82A units to send/receive across the original desired distance (approx. 30-40 feet with a wall in between).  There was minor static and I probably could have played with the channels and adjusted the position to eventually eliminate the minor static.

My problem is that I have no intention of turning off my 2.4GHz wireless router in order to use the X10 system.  I researched this product before purchasing and didn't read about any problems encountered with existing wireless communications.  Is there a workaround by X10 to solve this problem?

Also, per my original question, will the X10 Smart RF Repeater SR731 work with the VK82A units?  Thanks in advance.

Duane

No. The SR731 repeats the X10 Remotes and Sensors frequency of 310 MHz.  The cameras and senders are in the 2.4 Ghz band.
Some have tried different channels on the sender and network; as most networks also have a choice of channels.
Folks with wireless cameras share your interference with networks and 2.4 Ghz cordless phones problems.

Lucky You.
I still have a lot of noise when the distance is more then 10feet.
Any advice?
No, I don't have wireless phone and I change the channel from A up to D with no result.

Thanks,
Nati
