Post by: dan on April 19, 2005, 04:48:41 PM
Looks like the AHP is going to get less patches now that {iWitness} is here.

OP:

The new AHP update is now available. Changes in this version:

  • Macros run from PC now correctly set and clear flags.
  • You can now click to get rid of splash screen before 6 seconds are up.
  • Fixed a problem that could cause a crash when opening the Timer Designer pane.
  • Fixed problem that could cause some RF remote commands to not show up in Activity Monitor.
  • Fixed Status Report not showing correct flag status in some circumstances.
  • Fixed problem with some commands run from interface (timers and macros) not appearing in Activity Monitor.
  • {iWitness} Changing video record parameters now takes effect when changed.
  • {iWitness} Changing video plug-in preferences now correctly sets "Need Save" flag.
  • {iWitness} Fixed a problem that caused video stream to stop after saving repeated snapshots over time.
  • {iWitness} Fixed a problem that caused video stream to stop using snapshots on Win98.
  • {iWitness} Fixed Help link in iWitness About box.
  • {iWitness} Fixed problem with changing image directories.
  • {iWitness} Added some camera models that were not listed before.

You can downlod the update installer directly from here: http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/ahp_updt.exe

Come on Dan, I think it's a little more
reasonable to realize that iWitness, being
new, has more bugs to fix. At least, more
easy ones.

By now the bugs in AHP are likely to be
subtle and tricky to get right and take
time to fix and regress where iWitness
still has low hanging fruit.

What happened to the Smart Macros update
that was supposed to be at the same time?  I
do believe that I read that somewhere a few
times on this forum....

The two Smart Macros changes aren't labeled
as such: fix to flag status in Status Report,
and make setting/clearing flags from PC
macros work right. Next time I'll label those
with a "{Smart Macros}" tag.

X10Pro,Others,
I udated to 3.186. Update Went smooth.
I activated the report function to check
status flags.  I executed a "clear flag 2-14"
macro (manually) then by a switch (E5), then
by palmpad. The macro executed (flashed) in
all situations.
According to the report NO Flags Changed ??
I know the flags are working because my
bathroom lights dim by 50% after 11 when
turned on by motion sensor and are prevented
from continuing the dim action by a flag
set...but was disappointed that I could not
check the flags manually.
Continuing to check other functions.

SteveRF

X10Pro,
A test setup with ONE switch, one macro to
set flags results:
Reports shows was flag set and cleared when
switch activated ON then OFF.
Reports shows NO CHANGE when MACROS are used
to SET or CLEAR FLAGS...
So, when I have an accidental SET of a flag,
I cannot clear it with the macro. The only
thing that seems to change the flag status is
activating the switch to ON or OFF condition.
Seems trivial, but there are occassions we
need to be able to manually SET or CLEAR
flags by our "smart macro".

SteveRF: I'm looking at this now. I created a
macro that looks like this:

trigger G16 On:
Set flags [4].

When I click the "Run Macro" button on this
macro, then run the Status Report flag 4 is set.

I have another macro:

trigger G16 Off:
Clear flags [4]

When I click its Run Macro button, then run
the Status Report, the flag shows up cleared.

Are you running the report again each time
you run a macro? The report isn't refreshed
automatically. If you send me the file you're
using to test I'll take a look.

X10Pro,
I am running report new each time.
Web Browser is Mozilla (problem?)
Macro has one item (Set Flags 2-14) when
switch J2 ON sent and Clear Flags 2-14 when
J2 Off is sent. This test setup only has one
switch (J2)LM465 and two macros with trigger
J2. One macro triggers for ON and the other
for OFF.  That is it. However CM15A I am
using is a December 2004 purchase.

Are you clicking the "Run Macro" button to
trigger the macros? Or using a remote
control? Are they set as stored in interface?

X10Pro,
I duplicated G16 structure and Flag 4 macro.
Only that one switch and one flag.
Triggered switch manually on screen, macro
fires but no change in output report.

X10Pro, I used swith to trigger (from screen)
and macro (from screen)to trigger in tests.
They are set "stored in interface"
XP/SP2 (all updates)

X10Pro

I am also having similar problems with
Smart Macros (advanced if/else type):

MACRO 1
Trigger M1 ON
If weekday
set flag 1,2

Macro 2
trigger M1 ON
clear flag 1,2

According to IF/THEN/ELSE advanced
conditionals documentation and SM searched
for the BEST macro - in order, if it is
weekday then flags 1,2 should be set.
These work properly from the RUN MACRO
buttons, but ALWAYS clear the flags with M1
ON trigger.  They appear in order in Macro
Designer window as shown above.

It seems to be running any macro that is
triggered, not just the first TRUE test.
Are all macros that meet the conditions run
or just the first?  If ALL macros then
there is no ELSE part of it!  As a test I
rearranged the Macros in the MACRO DESIGNER
window so that Macro 2 would run first with
Macro 2 after and it all ends with the
flags set - opposite of the first test -
like it would be if it were running ALL
matching triggered macros in order.

Like I stated, this is not really a
IF/THEN/ELSE condition, as each macro will
have to have its own conditions or flags
set in previous macros to avoid the
commands.

So my question is  - is it supposed to do
this?

Thanks

OOPS!  Correction to last post...

It seems to be running any macro that is
triggered, not   ...   so that Macro 2
would run first with  Macro 1 after and ...

Thanks for any assistance or straightening
me up on the instructions...........

SteveRF: I didn't think the browswer would
make a difference. When you say you use the
switch to trigger, do you mean you flip the
on screen switch for the J2 lamp? How about
if you click "Run Macro"?

David K: That's not what should be happening.
I get the same thing here when I create
macros to match your description. I'll work
with our team here to figure out why.

Do I need to get a new CM15A or does this
upgrade fix the problems with the original
units shipped out?

keeping on top of it now also...keep up the
good work and good coding!  Looking forward
for to working with iWitness now!

X10Pro,
Yes, I flip the screen switch.
Hope you can keep up with all the posts...

I believe flags are triggered from within
the interface only, instead of using the
screen switch, try using a wireless remote
to trigger the macros, and see if it works.

AHP crashed with a "DLL" error when I tried
to update from the program. I'm trying it
now from the link but it has been at 1% for
sometime now. I expect I'll have to abort
and try again.

Well install link has locked up to the
point that Window Task Manager can't end
the install. It never got past 1%. I'll try
a system reboot.

Install via link locks up
downloading "x10net.dll" and never gets
past 1%. (I'm on my 2nd try.)

No luck with 2nd try either. Install of
linked program locked up again and can't be
aborted. I'm rebooting computer again and
will not try that link again. I'll eagerly
await the next update.
