Title: Turn an Appliance Module Off when Security System is Armed
Post by: PJD on December 04, 2007, 11:24:35 PM
I have a DS7000 Security System, with door/window sensors and motion detectors. I also use the console to control Lights and Appliance modules set to the same house code.

Namely, I use an appliance module to turn off (effectivly disconnect) a garage door opener from power.  It would be nice to have the appliance module turn off when I arm the security system and back on when I disarm it.

This can probably be done using a macro --- any macro suggestions would be helpful for my knowledge. But, I dont have any macro facilities on the wiring as of now.  How about any hardware hacks for this?  Or perhaps something using a Universal module?  or both a hack and universal module?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You could try setting the appliance module to the house code / unit code that you have the PS561 set to.

Then the Lights On / Lights Off buttons on the security remote should turn the appliance module on & off (since the PS561 just transceives it as an on & off signal at the set address). It's an extra step but done with the one remote. If you have a newer PS561 that flashed a light when you arm it, it may turn your appliance module off for you then.
