Title: Need to open/close a cantilever roller gate with my macintosh.
Post by: jlighthall on July 08, 2008, 07:23:21 PM
I have a gate operator on my cantilever roller gate at my office.  I need to be able to open/close it with my macintosh.  There is a block on the gate operator labeled 1 - 10.  If I take a jumper wire and touch 5 to 6 the gate will open.  Then once the limit switches meet their mark the gate stops.  If I touch the wire again to 5 and 6 the gate closes.  What I need is a controller that simply connects 5 and 6 together along with software to make that happen.  Any ideas would be appreciated :-)

jlighthall Welcome to the boards
It sounds like it operates like a garage door opener.  -:) You could use a Universal Module set to momentary operation. I do this with both my garage door openers. Someone else with Mac experience will have to chime in on the software setup  :'

As KDR suggests you can do this with the Universal Module. If all you want to do is open and close a gate you can do this without a computer. You could use one of the X10 power line controllers to send the signal to the Universal Module.
