You looking at recording video or just still images!
Also which OS are you using?
 ???
Many software options won't work with Vista and some won't work with 98! ::)
There are several free programs which will allow you to access your PC from anywhere on the net with full access off all programs so that option in the cam software isn't an issue!
There are very few that record based on motion detected in the image many because of the false detections!(interference would trigger a record)
The software package I use (iWitness/iWatchout) is part of the AHP suite and suits my needs!

i have both windows XP and vista.  I like to not only watch live feed but record video more than still image.  I reaf lots of reviews how many iffues they have with x10 software.  has x10 bother to fix this issues?

I've been using Video Monitor for several years
http://www.fgeng.com/

I have the 8 camera version

I also have their 8 camera multiplexer for switching camera's automatically via their software or you own software.
