I had purchased the PC to TV  system for my Home Theater (http://davesdomainonline.com/ht/ht.htm)... and it didn't work out like I had hoped. The unit can be used to send a IR signal to a remote location (equipment rack) but to be honest the powermid (http://www.x10.com/automation/pm5900_s.html) works best for remote IR. Nether unit will convert the IR to X10. For that you will need the IR mini controller (http://www.x10.com/automation/ir543_s.html) (that's what I use).
