Title: ir extender with audio video sender
Post by: pepsi on December 22, 2008, 02:59:56 PM
I've set up the audio video sender kit and while I can get cable in my other room I'm having problems with the remote. I ve contacted tech support several times and they wont give me a straight answer on the  matter. I connected the ir extender cable and the only way I can get it to change channels in the 2nd room is to have the emitter directly over the cable box sensor - the problem is that then the sensor is blocked to cable remote in the original room. The tech support guy stopped answering after giving me the response that i could change the channel in the 2nd room when I wanted to watch cable in the original room - this makes the situation completely unworkable as I'm not the only cable watcher in the shared apartment (they don't use the sender kit  - but aren't going to want to have to go to my bedroom and get the remote every time they want to watch cable in the living room!). Am I stuck forking out more money for their power mid system? or with my setup am I not going to be able to change channels?
Thanks for any help, I was so happy with the video sender till I had to deal with tech support.

I also need to place the emitters over the IR port (of the VCR I use). But.. I can also use the [VCR's] remote. Are the batteries in your cable-box remote new enough to be putting out a bright signal?
