Feels like the first time,
Feels like the very first time.
I remember the rush when a light went on and off in response to a remote button push.
Now I have my water hose gushing water or completely off in response to a button push. (http://www.gatortraks.com/forum/Smileys/classic/banana.gif)
Now that's power baby.
1 Orbit 24vac water valve.
1 pvc male-male adapter for the hose to screw on to above valve.
1 24 VAC transformer (in house)
1 Appliance controller turn on the transformer. (in house)
I put it on the HC that our good ol TM751 is on and I can stand out in the yard and turn this on and off.

Very cool. Those firsts do feel good. This X10 stuff often makes me giggle when it all comes together. I wonder... since you used the same HC as the TM751... why not use the unit code #1 and then only use the TM751 and save the appliance module?

The tm751 is upstairs with the "domestic" modules and the transformer for the sprinkler is in the furnace room downstairs where the 24 volt wire snakes outside through the furnace room air intake. Due to hi noise (and the lack of enough filters right now) the tm751 likes to be near the modules it is controlling.
I'd buy more filters but how boring. ::)

Since I run my traveling sprinkler between the hours of 5:ish pm and 10:00 pm, I created what I think will be a safety macro called NO WILD WATER >:( that is triggered by A16 which is the water appliance controller and if the time is between 10:00 PM and 5:00 PM, it turns A16 off.
This is to guard against noise and glitches turning on A16 and leaving the water on when we are asleep or at work.
Every so occasion I have come home and random lights are on.
The A16 appliance controller's timer is set to to shut off at 10:00 pm every night regardless.

I installed the X-10 water system on my seven acres. Three years ago the water district installed water meters. I now have my system hooked up to all my drip systems. After working out the bugs it is great. First off I have the system set to use a 24 hour clock, less hassle than AM and PM. No mistakes on time setting this way. When I have software computer shut down a drip valve, I have it repeat the shut off time 3 times, about 10 minutes apart. After I did this I have not had one valve stay on after it was unscheduled to shut down. I also have it hooked to my 220 volt air compressor to shut off at 1800 hours every night. I never have to get up and shut it off now if I forget. I really like the system and is worth the money. It is also hooked to some lights and a return pump to my hot water heater. on at 0600, off at 2200 hours.

Bitman, nice job! Thinking about doing the same thing with our box garden. How much did the valve cost? And where did you get it?

Any x10 one will do.
Transformers almost always have only the two prongs so it does not matter.
Just don't ever try a Lamp controller.
The new ones with the fade on will blow your little transformer right up.

thanks for the tip, I didn't even think about about the slow start lamp controller. I am still so new to x10 and then they are rolling out with the slow start and local control products, kinds of makes everything blur together at times. I also hate to ask this, the orbit water valve, i noticed they had a couple of different versions, I was wondering if you could post a model # of the one you ended up getting, looked like they have one for outside and one for inside the house. I think you mentioned the inside one, any reason on not getting the one for outside?

It is sea foam green. They are all 24 volters.
I had no clue, just walked in, saw that it would screw onto a external faucet, then took it to plumbing where I found a pvc male/male adapter that screwed in the female outgoing end on the valve and that screwed onto a hose over in gardening.
Ta-Da.
Now, I live 70 miles down a mountain to the nearest Home Depot so I hoped to get it right.
And I did.
I have to go get a pizza, I'll see if there is a number on it.

You can get a 24volt AC transformer at your local Radio Shed.
Today I was out front hooking up a new pressure washer with my wife. I pulled the x10 keychain remote out of my front pocket, turned on the water with it. She said. "wow you didn't even have to go turn it on". I winked and put it back in my pocket. - Some days ya just wanna live forever.
