Title: Active eye and wind
Post by: Bill59 on June 02, 2009, 01:52:28 PM
Does anybody have trouble with trees and shrubs blowing around and triggering the sensor?

Yes, I had trouble with tree and shrub movement.  I tried to narrow what the active eye could "see" by placing black tape over part of the lens.  That helped somewhat.  But it also limited what I wanted the active eye to "see."  For best results I had to relocate the motion sensor where it didn't "see" the tree and shrub movement but yet covered the area that I wanted it to "see."

Are they infrared? If so, shouldn't they see heat movement?

I have an ms16a on the back deck as a dog has returned sensor.
I put it up at the start of last winter after the patio furniture was stowed away.
This spring I put up the furniture which has an umbrella/table combo. The collapsed umbrella twitched and
waved in the wind right in front of the sensor consti-triggering it. The umbrella has no wrap around strap.
Having one may help but for now we are without the umbrella because the dog return sensor is too useful.

Yes they are infrared. I have the same blowing problem also. I think it is just leaf shadow moving across the sensing field, interuping the background infrared level. Thats my theory and I'm stickin to it.  :D

I guess that's just the way it is. But Dave, I think it's your aftershave! (Sorry had to do it)!

I am really having a difficult time convincing my wife it is the after shave. And, I exercise every Monday through Friday morning with an arm lift and a sit-up.... ;)
