I got vanguard pack with 2cameras and motion sensors and socket 2 days ago.
I figured out in 2 days without any support of X10.
Motion sensors & sockets
Motion sensor fools itself with sun heat and fog.
I moved the motion sensors to shade.
I have a Lora , X10 upgraded.
It can turned off the lights outside after sensor detected the motion, but yesterday was fog night here San Francisco, and it turn on again and again, in 5 sec.
So I let it turn on last night.
This night is foggy too, but it is OK so far.
I don't expect it too much, but I wonder why after the right setting of the motion mode, it goes back to the default sometimes. It is mystery.

Motion sensors and any camera settings were so easy to do.
I have a chime and it works fine.
I stuck here with Vanguard installation and registry.
Why the installation shows "skip" after I plug the CM19A UBS Transceiver and VA12A USB Digital video Converter?
I don't know why the reason, but I did manything and it finally seems OK , not showing
"skip" after 89% installation of the vanguard softwear with plugging VA12A and CM19A any more.
What I did for.
I trashed many free anti-virus softwears from my XP SP3, using iexploror 8.
I turn off XP's fire wall and macafee's fire wall and any other anti-virus featers of macafee.
I even turn off activeX , it made me easy to show the vanguard x10.gate images.
I expanded my port in my router site.
I went to x10wiki and http://www.portforward.com/ (http://www.portforward.com/)
found my router and click and followed the all instructions and I wrote down my ipaddress and DSN everything.
my router was lynksy and I could not open the ipsite of lynksy, I searched the google and found the same problem and I did what they suggested and I could open the site.
Usually your router company's forum help this " can not open" problem.
I expanded my port from 8 to 8888.
and finally got OK with X10.com Network Gateway Analysis http://www.x10.com/support/netinfo/netinfoadvance.htm (http://www.x10.com/support/netinfo/netinfoadvance.htm)
After all those process( I took one day for , because my PC is so slow)
I installed the vanguard softwear again and plugged the VA12A and CM19A again at 89% , asking " plug in them" and I did.
After 89% plugged them all, the message did not show " skip" any more.
I think it finally installed them all.
Skipped or not, the vanguard x10.gate could open and I got a whole images.
But when I click the " Online " to register, the registration small page appears but
it does not start it.
It get an error message again and again.
Internet explorer can not connect to it.
It seems internet explorer problem.
B:( B:( 2days now.
The registration form can not connect to the i explorer 8 of Windows XP.
The error message of windows, I can not write down here, because it is too much information and
only MSN guys can understand the messages.
I am using comcast and lynksy router, XP SP3.
The registration form is username and password and ID required, I typed ID was my order number-1.
anyway, the form itself seems freeze and an error message appears soon every time.
When I installed GE simon XT, I took one week to finish without any support for.
Because support guys are usually pointing out different thing or I have no idea what they say.
I hope I can use the camera and vanguard and motion sensors pretty soon.
As a DIY guy, I don't mind to find out the information somewhere in the internet, but I am afraid of
getting spams from the searching.
Now I am waiting the help from X10 support.
I pray I can get the exact solution without any plus $.
I pray for all of you too to get through.

First of all, I have to say, I could get a registration form in my XP,
the x10 tech support helped me with many email today.
As like me, may be some people thought the cutomer supports are not understanding your problems and just replies with manual answers.
They sent me manual answers, it is YES.
WIndows XP my home pack 3 does not install vanguard icon in vanguard file in program file in C drive.
I tried installation with windows 98 too, it shows vanguard icon and when I click on it,
it is the registration form.
I must use vangurad system with my XP home pack 3, internet explore 8.

I was misunderstanding the page is just for how to make a short cut of the icon
But it is the page to create an icon to register Vanguard.

P.S. In this time, I got a solution in 3 days.
It is so fast to me.
The process tomorrow with camera seting , motion sensor setting,.

Today, I got a beautiful color image in a day, but it is not so clear at night.
And night vison camera..... It does not show anythig at night.
Need illumination? Out of knowledge.
Today`s problem,got the errormessage while trying to watch video in History.
Run a DLL as an APP
Also I set two mothion sensors to House code A, unit 1
worked well with socket roket in only night.
But the camera with other two motion sensors set up to B and 1 2
It affects the socket rocket fefault should be house code A/
Or motion senors set up to B affect the camera set up with A.
Any way, everytime work with camera. the rocket turn on the light.
I am going to be negative now.
But waiting for the reply from x10 tech support again about those two issues.
Vanguard.............is it worng with XP and why no sugestion about that??
Or OK to work with XP?
Also Camera views can not have 100 feet away.
And it is short to set up camera around the house, somebody suggested already so.
I formally have svat camera , it does not record but shows well
during night time too.
I was thinking to conbine both, but what should I do?
I will get a nice solution, I pray pray and pray and pray pray.

I am waiting the solutions of Run a Dll as an APP with Vanguard hisotry image view( Video feater) from tech support.
I can not control up and down camera from vanguard softewar too.
It means I can not remote control everywhere through the internet.
It sometime works but only the beginning.
Once I determin the position to see, and when I try to move the camera positions again, it does not work.
I went out and used the ninja remote control to move the camera, but it does not work today too.
The images were OK.
I thought I should use two remote control for each of camera, and I start to use one.
It crashed the both images ( Camera A and Camera B)
Now I get nothing.
It seems streaming but the images are making noise.
So I may set up from the bigining again.
swith off the camera etc.
Tough...............

And unplugged VA11, and got an image again with camera unit 1.
I changed to house code C from A. D was not work.
Move on...

Today, I replugged and reset all cameras.
I am using rocket socket LM15 with motion sensor.
It does work with house code A.
I found the explanation, the socket default (LM15) is house code A.
While using house code B for camera, the motion sensor affected the camera or
camera affected the socket rocket.
the lights have been turned on in a day.
I set up the cameras again, it seems all fine now with Vanguard view.
I am not testing the Video hisotry `s Run a Dll as an App yet.
But I have stills, it is OK to see who were there.
Now I am going to set up motion sensor to camera again.
But I am afraind of if the motion sensors affect the rocket socket lighting again.

Hello, everybody, I finally got thorugh the affection issue of notion sensor.
I chose A for rocket socket and C for Camera instead of B.
B affected A each other , and the lights turn on all days by yesterday.
Today, I am fine, finally got it.
By the way, when I close to my PC(XP) camera 1, it is white and black Camera view start to
make noises, it may be antena issue.
The last problem, unsolved yet that is Run a Dll as an APP error message.
But stills images helps a lot.
I moved the white and black camera near the lighitng , the light and camera separatelly
turn on with each motion, A and C.

The video in History section , it does not create video play feater.
Sometime I see but disappers soon.
My PC is XP and 2002, home pack 3.
Comcast Mcafee ( I reinstalled after installation of Vanguard softwear)
Is it my PC fault or Vanguard fault?
If manypeople have this problem, I hope X10 fix it for XP and updates.

I have Mac note book, and I can not get the image of x10gate.com, it is the for view of videos and anything remotely.
I bought x10 products on my Mac.
I hope I can use on Mac too.

X10 tech support, the guy or guys work hard. No doubt.
He provided me Run a Dll as an APP solution.
I provide here, if it helps people who have same orblem in future.
Please go into Options-Video Rec and select Record in Standard AVI format. Hit OK, close Vanguard, and rename or delete the C:\My Images folder. Then reopen Vanguard;
if the problem persists, please follow this complete reinstall procedure for Vanguard:
1. Go to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs and click on the ‘Add/Remove’ button for Vanguard. Note: You may receive a message saying "could not open INSTALL.LOG file". If you get this, delete the folder at C:\Program Files\Vanguard. Run the Vanguard installer again, and repeat Step #1.
2. A window will pop up asking if you would like to do an ‘Automatic’ or ‘Custom’ uninstall. Select ‘Custom.’
3. Click on the ‘Select all’ button, and then the ‘next’ button on every screen in the Uninstall Wizard.
4. Click ‘Finish.’ Repeat steps 1-4 for X-Ray Vision, X10 Hardware, and any other X10 software installed.
5. Reboot the computer.
6. Go to My computer | C: | Program files | Common files.
7. Delete the ‘X10’ folder. If you receive a message that states you cannot delete this folder, go to step 8. If you can delete it, go to step 12.
8. Press the Crtl, Alt, and Del buttons on your keyboard at the same time to bring up Task Manager.
9. Click on Processes. End process for x10net.exe.
10. Delete the ‘X10’ folder in the ‘Common Files’ folder.
11. If this does not work, reboot the computer and repeatedly press F8 while it loads to bring up the Safe Mode menu. Boot into Safe Mode and delete the ‘X10’ folder in the ‘Common Files’ folder.
12. Reboot the computer.
13. Disconnect your VA11A Video Capture Adapter.
14. Install the Vanguard software and plug in the VA11A when prompted.
15. Reboot the computer again.
16. Rename the C:\My Images folder to C:\My Old Images (or just delete it.)
17. Open Vanguard, go into Options-Video Rec, select Record in Standard AVI format, and hit OK. The Vanguard software should now operate correctly. If you have any more questions, please reply to this email. Thanks for choosing X10!
I am on the process, I hope it is going to fix my problem.
My idea why I provided the tech help here, because it helps many users.
Also I don't think tthe information robs their jobs.
They can help much more people before they give up.

I encounter two problems.
Run a DLL as an APP 's soluition

did not fix it.
And I have two lightings on the wall of the entrance, one is OK with rocket socket,
But Another one does not work with Rocket Socket.
Any other lightings are OK with rocket socket.
I could not do with the one.
My video in History does not change anything.
The broken Video feature and get the error "Run a DLL as an APP".
I can use the lighting rocket sockets with Camera, separatelly.
Because I chose the hosue code A and C.
DO I Have to try the run adll solution again?
would be same.
I have never deleted Vanguard and X10 hardwear from my control panel ,
I can not remove them away, because the control panel does not allow to do so.

By the way, I installed AML free registry cleaner before I made an icon to register.

I did it three or four times, but I am not sure what I am doing with this.
After Clearn up ( FIx them all) Are they all clearned up?
SOmebody wrote "Rename" I also do this to my computer folder, but not in this AML, right?

I meet up how to watch video in my computer, I open the my images (where mine installed all) and video task shows up left side of the video file, I played and I could do it.
This is an only good news to see video with my XP.
However, I can not check out remotely.
Or can I access to my video folder in my XP remotely?????
Bad news, I don' find my program files somewhere, I did somebody suggested method
expand program files, and I compressed so I lost it.
The file exist somewhere, but I can not find in C drive.
I felt like I am stupid to do this.
At least, I can watch video with indows media player.
But X10.com should fix this problem, run dull app with xp, also video player in history is not working either show up correctly.

I left my PC on last night to record the viode if the motion sensors detected something
I misunderstood the Vanguard can record without internet connection, but it needs
connection at least.
Since yesterday, I lost my program files and common files because I tried to expand
my program files and common files, and I compressed and disapeared somewhere.
This morning, I started the vanguard camera when I go to history, the hository
does not have any recorded files any more even after I recorded.
Also Run Dll errors in any process.
I can not record and I can not use it any more.
I found my program files in my gavage box, I have to reinstall the vanguard sfotwear
gain to see the only camera views but it not record?
Please fix it for my XP and I will buy other cameras.

I used *Search * to find out all x10 flies in my PC and deleted any way.
And reinstalled once, ( after reboost)
and doing this insraction.

I did right my computer and I found two error divces in the dive managers in property.
I deleted and I reinstalled again and now I don't see it any more.
The error was yellow attention mark.

Today I left the Vanguard on while I was out side.
After I came back and I checked the history category but there is nothing to show.
All grey
But my computer's my images folder kept still and videos.
I could not open the files of snap shot but still was showing but so many pictures there.
I tried to watch the video with my media player , I could do yesterday, but
I got Run DLL as an APP again and again.
I did not using Mcafee while I left the vanguard on, it was working to record.
But History section has been no images, nothing there.
Every day, after reinstalled the vanguard, and then get day, after reinstalled the vanguard, and then get the differnt results, it is not easy to use it so far.

I keep drive way sensor and chime and rocket sockets.
But No computer soft wears.
Vanguard camera control did not control camera from computer.
So I had to go out and adjust the camera with ninja remote again and again and everyday.
It same as my camera, No my camera svat is much better than this, I don't need to adjust it
just on the same position every day and can watch better in darkness.
Svat does not record anything itself, but can see three places , outside and inside.
Svat did not work in my new house , it 's much bigger than here I live.
I was looking for nice one for a new bigger house.
Vanguard control did not control from PC to my camera out side, it means it does not work for the new house too.
Anyway, so much errors while using this, I still tried to have hope , if Auto home pro can match
with my XP home pack3, but AHP forum makes me same.
I disappointed too much, because my GE simon XT needed a time to fix up but it works great.
I usually read many reviews before I buy stuff, but I don't know why, I did not read and
I ignored some negativity on the x10 forum before I bought.
I made a mistake in this time.
By the way, I found a lynksys camera, it is wireless and control position itself,
It sends mail if it takes pictures etc.....
I have to find out which camera is really good to record outside and inside.
I am also Mac and XP, both user, I need a best one to do.

I went to Lynksys wire less camera and some suggests D-links etc...
I searched with Wire less camera and X10 is on the first page on the google , it may be so many people are using this.
if you could use the X10 softwear without trouble, enjoy it.
I may go to Panasonic wireless camera rather than Lynksys , but I wonder why so many cameras with PC, but not with Mac.
if you can not use X10, reasonable price one, go search and get a nice one.
