Title: A rookie need help
Post by: Bingo on August 30, 2009, 09:09:55 PM
First of all I apologized for the poor quality of this text (I am a French Canadian)

So,

Is somebody could write me a macro to do this ?
1- I have a WS16A module controlling the porch appliance (A7).
2- The timer for this module is set to be On at Dusk and Off at 10:00 Pm using the Security check box.
3- I have a MS16A Active Eye Motion Sensor hooked to my A7 unit. The set up is :Unit code "7", House code "A", detect motion is set to be On at dusk and does not turn unit code +1 at on... Off delay is set to 2 (2 minutes) after motion detection.
The clue is when during the "On period" drive by the MS16A set up, if this unit detect a motion, a Off command is send to my A7 unit 2 minutes after the detection.
What I want to do is to disable this function during the "On period"

Help...

You have the MS16A sending on A7 correct?
You also have the Macro triggering on A7 correct?
Also the module being controlled is on A7?

I believe the problem is the motion sensor will send an A7 Off after the two minutes of no motion.

You should not have the motion sensor; wall switch and the macro all on the same A7 address.
Most likely you will have to change the MS16A to a different address and use that address to trigger the macro. To control the  lights that are on A7.

Thanks

I understand that I have to give a different address for the MS but how transfer the MS detection to the A7 Appliance ?

Before I make an example macro of what Brian and others have suggested at your other post, I'm a bit confused as to what you have set up/want to do. If your light is on A7 and you have timers set for A7 to turn it on by AHP's the calculated dusk time and off at the security time of 10:00pm, what do you want the motion sensor to do? i.e. What is it's attended function if the light is already on?

What I want to do is to open the proch light if somebody came after the timed period.

What I want to do is to open the proch light if somebody came after the timed period.
So do you want the light on from dusk (calculated) to a security time of 10:00pm and then at other times from the motion sensor if someone approaches?  ???
If so, that shouldn't be hard. I actually do something like that now. I have my light come on and go to 50% for the evening. If someone approaches, that light brightens to 100% then after a period of time the light dims back to 50% if it's still in the evening range or turns off if not.

Unfortunately the computer that I had dedicated for my X10 use is on the blink right now with a hard drive crash among other things and I have my eye out for a cheap used XP computer to replace it. It's unlikely I'll pull all the macros I use from my brain memory but I can try to recreate something to give you for a start. I do have at least 1 hard backup somewhere of the X10 stuff as well as I believe an online backup for when I do get a replacement computer.

It's exactly what I want to do.
But it's not a hurry

Thanks

I'd like to see a copy of this macro also. Thanks!

 >!  After a couples of hours I did it.
I am now be able to open and close the porch light after 22h and open it at Dusk and close at 22h using the security feature.
If you are intersted to see it I have a .doc document with screen capture of the Macros & Timers. :)% :)%
