If facebook is for people with no real time for their real friends then maybe social lite is for people with no time for their fake friends.
Social Lite - meeting people without the calories/alcohol/fun?
Hype only usually works for celebrities and Microsoft - maybe X10 is teaming up with Jay Leno and Bill Gate rofl

I think its a twitter/face book control. Maybe it will allow you to turn on lights through these pages. Could allow friends to play with your system.
I think it is going to be a interface to turn on a x10 signal to tell you if you have a new twitter message or facebook wall post.
All are fun and good to see x10 come up with something new!!

I think it's an ingenious plan to improve the company's presence among the young and hip. Coupled with the recent twitter contest and the future (myspace?) promotion, it's a great way to introduce whippersnappers to X10 technology.
Note to Mr. McKay : I like this new direction that the company is taking. Let's face it (pun intended), the current market base is getting older and more complacent, and the younger crowd is more likely to invest emotionally in technology. Heck, I can't even play that new guitar game.
This is way better than using flashy pop-ups or trashy women to sell the product, and product sales drive new product development.
I personally don't have any social accounts (twitter, facebook, etc.), but am quite well aware that the next generation has already embraced these avenues as a regular part of their lives.
X10 Socialite is the next evolution of X10!

It interfaces facebook,myspace, and TV .. ans the last video I seen said it was a remote or comes with a remote!!

Well another face book update... so far
It interfaces Twitter , Facebook , and your TV It has a remote and the new one something todo with a "rating system"
The rateing sytem part is questionable??? are they going to let you rate what you watch on tv using twitter and facebook seems odd but could be something like those TV rating systems companies call you asking you to use it for awhile. Just a new funner(?) way of doing it.
I'm more confused then I was when they started posting about it. But guess thats what they want is to keep you on your toes!!

But the Question is DOES IT HAVE TOUCH SCREEN AND USB CONNECTION ???
AND WILL THE ICON RF DROP DOWN IN PRICE EVEN MORE THEN. Ohh I do hope so.

I dont think its a remote like the ICON... they really have not mentioned anything about home automation in any clue or video.

Since Windows 7 is due to be released soon and X10 has a remote driver which will interface with any x10 remote and Media Center.
The new Widows has Media Center highly intergrated in the OS, it is capable of all things listed and much much more!
My guess is this new product is software based, As far as what it will add that you won't be able to do with out MediaCenter and the driver ??? , they haven't peeked my interest one bit! ::) :'

Facebook and twitter.... great idea....but where is this going? Look at tweet a watt and do some research and adapt. From what i can see on this site there are a lot of old timers with a lot of knowledge and you need to figure out how to tie that in together with facebook and twitter. Now great ideas come around once in a while but how is the socialite or a covert ops going to grab a market? Find a niche first then branch out that way you could tie the "old timers" and a kid together. If you take the time and read the other posts (not just read, but understand) you could become the greatest marketer of x10 to date.

Its a remote that interfaces twitter and facebook.
Socialite is a place on the web you go to rate you fave TV shows and share with your friends. according to X10 Tony it will revolutionize how you watch TV rofl
I'm sorry but after that clue I don't think I care about it anymore. Maybe they will shock me and say it does more ..but so far it seems to have nothing to do with home automation
X10 please remember AUTOMATION!!! Its what you do or well done!!
Side note in the Face book videos .. X10 Tony gets beat up twice and kidnapped... facebook Gold rofl

Another Facebook thing that Brandon McKay has announced. My take on Facebook is I would not use it if you paid me millions to use it. X10 is a home control system for lights and appliances, not something to be discussed 24/7/365, which is what Facebook is.

Social Websites are a dime a dozen. I predict that in the near future (less than 5 years) at least 90% of them will be gone.
For most this is a FAD that will FADe.

I must be missing something important.
After reading the introduction hype about X10 Socialite (IR33A), it appears to have the added ability (over the old IR27A/IR32A Icons) to "with the push of a button" post a 1 - 5 star rating of television programs on a "Twit Book" account.
Someone help me:
1. Do people really care about such things?
2. Is that it?? That is all the X10 Socialite is about?

B:( Yea its just a added software to the Icon and to a computer. I still think that X10 must be getting paid to setup a ranking system for TV show. Maybe selling the information to places??
Besides the fact Its a Icon/RF I dont see people buying it for the socialite software. Sorry X10 I love your stuff but think the time it took to R&D this could of been used in better places.
Oh by the way I love the new Camera setup up I won on X10 facebook!! >!

I am sadly let down by the new product. Not disappointed, as this was expected. I work long hours and do hard labor and I have a considerable investment in X10 products.
Please X10, don't drive me away. Give me a new tool and not a new toy. I want something that will be productive in my home, not something that will aid me in frittering my time with FB or become a twit.
I'm sure it has been fun, and I understand that the employees are trying to put a fresh spin on the marketing, but we at the forums have been suggesting where the company needs to go for years. Why not listen to us for a change? We can and will help, if you only listen and read the forums and not just use them to announce the next trends in marketing.
And BTW, it's called rapelling, not repelling.
To rapel is to descend down a vertical face on a rope, to repel is to chase someone away.
But I digress.

If you want to improve the Icon Remote, make it so that I can update the graphics. Logos change, channels change, networks come and go and the names fail to remain the same, but the info in my Icon is forever.

No doubt about it... Harmony remotes were a game changer. Without the feature of being able update to this years equipment.... it's just a universal remote.
But it's the best damn X10 remote out there! I just wish X10 would but some of that remote knowledge into a little X10 touchscreen remote about the exact size of a wall switch.
