HI All,
I just moved into a home I bought in an estate sale. After finding dozens of low voltage landscape switches in oddball places i.e. yard shed, outbuilding, garage storage room and the crawl space of the house, I eventually figured out they are x10. Leviton 6291 to be exact. My questions are, (1) Can I use any controller to operate the lev6291's or does it need to be a Leviton control? (2) How do I identify the codes for the switches? (3) Is there a way to scan the system to identify possible controllers, repeaters or additional switches?
I appreciate any help or info. Thanks

Yea they are X10 controlled so any x10 controller can work them. Code wheels are located beneath the rocker plate.
I dont think there is away to search for a controller besides just going on a hunt!! Happy searching

Welcome to the Automation World and X10.
3) There is no way to scan the system for other modules; switches and controllers.
Some Leviton controllers may actually look like a wall switch with more than one button on it.
If there where any RF remotes in use. You may find a module in a wall socket with an antenna on it.
You may want to download the Decora Home Controls Manual from Leviton. The 6291 is part of the Red Line.

Also the 6291 is similar to the X10Pro XPS3. You can get the manual for that on the X10pro Web site. In the Installation Instructions tab.
