Title: Installing SR227 in outside boxes
Post by: ingramd on October 30, 2009, 06:49:20 AM
I'm thinking of installing some SR227 to replace the outlets to control some Christmas lights. What's the general forums consensus on these do they work out in the cold Northeast weather ?

The SocketRockets can be used outside. You will want to protect them from wetness... but the cold should not be a problem. The bad thing about the SocketRocket is it's limited wattage. I think most people use appliance modules protected with plastic jars or heavy ziplock bags.

Too bad the Black and Decker FWLROD Weather Resistant Modules where discontinued.
Clunk like applance module and program like a Socket Rocket.

I bought a couple when on clearance... wish I had got more.

The Black and Decker FWLROD is still around on Amazon (but for $33 - kinda 'spensive).

Then I guess my local surplus store's $5.00 ea. for any B&D module was a bargain.  ;D
