Title: BVC + Keychain Remote = Radio Control :)
Post by: aslamma on November 24, 2009, 11:34:00 PM
Just wanted to share a success story.  I got the USB-UIRT to try to work with Girder (still can't figure it out).  Anyway, using BVC I was able to couple together BVC, USB-UIRT, and a keychain remote to do some simple radio control to my receiver.

I can turn the volume up and down, change stations, and turn the radio on.

Why is this cool to me?  Well, I wanted something to use in the shower so I could not use an expensive remote.  The keychain remotes are basically throw aways so if it goes bad in the water no big deal.  I did a splash test and so far it is still working.  It looks to at least be splash proof.  Time will tell if it can hold up to an environment with water, but pretty cool nonetheless!

They make "skins" for the nearly same sized car remotes. Wonder if one of those would make the remote nearly water-proof.
