Title: Hello!
Post by: Senjak on January 21, 2010, 11:54:01 PM
Hello!

Once again I dive into a project without a lot of planning :-)

I'm looking forward to playing around with X10, I've a bunch of hardware on the way and a very specific goal in mind.

Currently I've a Linux system hooked up to my television.  Mplayer understands a couple of basic commands that I care about (pause/play/ff/fr etc.)

I've strung a bunch of Christmas blue led light strings along the top of the walls, by turning the normal lights off and plugging in the light strings I have a very nice environment for watching the television.

So now I want to be really lazy and make the remote able to switch which lights are on!

I'll summarize my adventures in exploring X-10 control under Linux as I go.  It should be lots of fun.  Yeah I haven't really planned it out, but I spend too much time at my job planning stuff out, so my off hours tend to ba a little random!

Look forward to talking to everyone!
