Title: On/Off Question
Post by: xogie on April 24, 2010, 12:28:05 PM
Never had any experience with X10. So having said that,

1. If I have a lamp that would be connected via X10 plug, how do I turn on the lamp from the lamp? turn lamp off then on?  And how would I be able to turn it off so that x10 would be able to turn it on?

2. Can anyone recommend any nice looking controllers that can do macros and maybe a color display?

Normally the switch on the lamp is left On. Then the X10 Lamp Module will turn it On and Off. If the Lamp Module is Off you can use the Local Control Sensing in the X10 Lamp Module. By turning the lamps switch off then back on. The X10 Lamp Module will turn On. There is no way to locally turn the X10 Lamp Module Off with out using a remote or AC powered controller.
If you are using CFL bulbs in the lamp you should be using a Appliance Module and the latest ones do not have local control in them. So the local switch on the lamp will not turn it on.
