Title: Anyone using this remote to replace a Firefly RF remote?
Post by: darkuni on August 27, 2010, 12:20:58 PM
I'm tempted on this remote - but the one key element in my home theater systems is the Firefly remote.  It's RF based - not IR - so learning IR remotes cannot handle it.

I'm jonsing for a replacement that will do both IR and RF - and one that surely will do my Firefly would be the bomb.

Anyone have ANY information on this?  I wouldn't mind "learning", and I'm told by X10 this will learn RF - but I'd like someone else to chime in that ISN'T cashing the check I'm writing :)

Thanks gang!

It will only learn IR signals. It has no RF receiver in it to learn any RF codes.
If you have the Firefly's frequency or the FCC number so we can look it up. We would know if it even uses the same as the Nsinct does.
310 MHz for X10 signals and 418 MHz for the receiver part of a Powermid IR extender.

The Firefly PC Remote operates at 433.92 Mhz.

So am I out of luck?

I do have the Firefly MINI receiver (which IS IR) but I was hoping to get RID of that sucker with this deal.  Is there a Firefly Mini preset at least?

Thanks again!

I looked in the menus.
I did not see any mention of Firefly, Firefly Mini, Snapstream or Beyond TV.
