I have 2 ds10a and they wont transmit 20 feet....is this normal >*< geez i hope not...what do ya do if you have a 1500 sqft house??

Anybody out there know the answer or what i'm doing wrong???????????

The knowledgebase indicates 100 feet, but I would take that with a grain of salt.
That is probably with no obstructions between it and the console.

What are they mounted on?
Any obstacles in betwen the console and the DS10As?
Are you testing them in the same room as the console? Then it doesn't sound right.

one of them is in the same room and the other one is in the master bedroom. Today they would transmit sometimes, so what i did was to take about 5 feet of thin copper wire and wrapped it around the sensor and then run it hidden along the door jam and then wrapped the same kind of wire around my cm15 <??i think> and ran that up and around some molding and with all of that everything is working fine SO FAR :)%

OH. I thought you where using a DS7000 Security Console Kit.
The CM15A is known for poor RF reception and we have many modification threads on fixes.
The easiest one is what you did . Wrap a piece of wire around the plastic antenna.

WOW it figures, where would i find some of those fixes? ;D I did a search for them and didn't find any

Look up CM15A Antenna Mod, especially passive antennas/radiators. A piece of wire between 18-19 inches beside the CM15A antenna, taped to it. Should help (like you've seen).
There are even mods to replace the antenna altogether.
Hope this helps! :)

Here is one but there are others.

Thanks to All who helped, the wire wrapped around the unit worked perfect :)% #:) >!

Glad it is working.
The wrapped wire has an advantage of not modifying the CM15A in case it has to be a warranty thing in the future.
