Post by: Winkman on June 14, 2011, 11:42:33 AM
HAd my system working perfectly for 6 months with 6 cams, now after doing the update from 3.314 to 3.315 i have flickering video and what seems like weak video signal . Flicker such as vid there one second then black screeen for a second then good video for a few mins. Nothing has changed in my hardware i just did the update. Was wondering if anyone else has seen the same problem. or what i should next.

As a test, try reinstalling 3.314, and see if the problem goes away.
3.315 added support for dual video sources, so there may be a bug that was introduced.
Which cameras are you using?
Which video capture adapter (VA11A or VA12A)?
What operating system are you running?

You shouldn't need to back anything up - just install over what you have.
Although, you probably want to make a backup copy of your .AHX file (where all your modules/timers/macros, etc are stored) just in case.

Thank you, I thought I was the only one going crazy trying to figure this one out  B:(.  Once again they fixed somethings and broke others!!!!!  3.315 screws up cameras where you get flicker, black screen, flicker, and then freeze if motion has occurred!! Just rolled back to 3.314 and everything is as it was - sigh!!!  When oh when will they do proper regression testing before releases???   Guess it's to much to ask as they have a built in base - us - to show them where they went wrong AGAIN!!

Now they have touted a new release of ActivePhone "Pro", has anyone tried it out yet and does it actually work with all modules or only the newer ones and the two way status reporting versions???

I'll ask the developers to look at this thread. They may contact you if they need more information.

If they send me a PM and I'll gladly give the them anything - info/files/configs/etc they might need to address this and any other issues. Until the camera issues are fixed I won't even try to test the "timer/macro fixes" of 3.315.

They may or may not need more information, so stay tuned.

Actually, I have the answer on that one. It was a problem with time-based conditions in macros set to run from the PC. There was a bug in the code that reversed the logic of the condition. Macros that were downloaded to the interface didn't seem to have that issue.

For those experiencing flicker in 3.315.  Have you tried disabling multi-stream view in the Video Stream Configure dialog (click the assign button on any camera module)?

I blocked it as much as I could, but it is possible to configure the system to wind up in a state where both video streams are assigned to the same camera.  Changing the active camera should fix this in most systems (that updates the stream states and should hit some of that blocking I mentioned to remove the flickering).

Failing that, turning off multi-stream view should completely stop frames from being generated outside the currently active camera's stream, and should eliminate the flicker that way.

Ok, gave it another shot following your instructions and the problem persists.  I only have 2 cameras setup, B1 & B2.  Clicking the assign button on camera B1 shows B1 & B2 are assigned to Stream 1 and no cameras on Stream 2.  Tried switching between cameras without any luck, still get flickering then frame freeze, tried the activate buttons also. Turned off multi-stream by unchecking the box and all I get is a  black screen for the camera view of either camera B1 or B2.  Tried a shutdown and restart of AHP and multi-stream box is once again check marked with the flickering/freeze issue!

Anything else I can try?

It sounds like your cameras should both be assigned to stream 2.  Try leaving multi-stream view off and assigning one of them to stream 2, do you still just get a black feed for that camera?  if that works try switching the other one to stream 2 and see if that camera works as well now.

The multi-stream view is saved in the ahx file, so if you exit AHP without saving it will reset this option.

I did as you suggested and and changed the video stream to #2.  I do get a video image on Steam 2, but as soon as motion is detected the video freezes - doesn't matter which camera.  Also there is no config save icon in the bottom right of the screen after changing the multi stream setting so I did manually saved to a new .ahx file and reloaded with the same results - video freezing.  Tried switching back to stream #1 and got flickering/freeze then crash of AHP.

Anything else I can try, just ask!

Sounds like there is 2 issues.  The flickering, and the freezing.  It sounds like the flickering is fixed by switching to stream 2, but I will have to look into the freezing more. Since this prevents you from using a core feature (motion detection) this will be a high priority bug so this is now at the top of my list.

When you saved to a new ahx did the state of the multi-stream view option get saved, or was it reset the next time you ran AHP?  I wouldn't expect this variable saving to fix the freezing, just wondering if i have a bug in the settings save routine i need to fix as well.

Randy, have you tried configuring what stream the cameras are assigned to differently as well, or just turning off multi-stream view so far?

Same problems here after reinstalling again to 3.315 . I also tryed everything that we were told to and still have the Black Screen Video Flicker but this time it seems to stay a black screen a  little Longer . Also i have noticed the Cameras farthest away have a weaker looking Signal . Not as clear and consistent as they were with earlier versions. I Will be uninstalling 3.15 until there is a fix . My sys needs to be running at all times.  Ill Be watching and will have my fingers crossed for a fix soon. Thanks Everyone .

Yes the setting of multi-stream was saved correctly by doing a manual save to a new .ahx file.

Thanks for your attention and quick responses to this issue Erik - #:)

Same here. Running XP Pro SPK3

I've had ActiveHome Pro For years. Added IWatchout about 2 or 3 years ago with 1 Ninja mount and camera. Everything was working fine until this morning, after installing ActivePhone Pro late last night. I suppose my previous version was rather old, but I can't remember.

I bought the ActivePhone Pro to use for automation control via a wifi tablet. The wifi tablet won't let me pick a room. Can only choose from 'ALL ROOMS' ...The down arrow is grayed-out.

Upgrading to 3.15 at the time of APP seems to have caused my camera video to get the streaking (bad reception look) the picture and picture freezes when clicking on certain camera navigation buttons. (center, sweep, any of the 4 presets.....all others work fine, but sometimes have to click twice to get any visual-click-feedback), ..... the camera motion continues to it's 'stop point' with all button clicks.

I tried clearing the 'enable multi-stream view' Note: I only have 1 stream to choose from, I assume this is normal as I only have one camera right now.

Also the green icon light goes off when I close-out the frozen window, doesn't when the window is working normal.

I'm getting module crashes, "X10 Module has detected a problem and needs to close." Sometimes when the AHP is running, sometimes when coming out of standby, and sometimes with no apps running.

If I step back to 3.14 as Winman suggested above for troubleshooting purposes; will I loose the APP automation app I just bought? Also any tips on how to do this are well appreciated.

I don't mind waiting this out if X10 sees an issue and is working on a fix...

MS crash report enclosed if that might help.....need anything else, just ask.

Just crashed.... 'X10 Module.......' data from Event viewer if it helps:
Faulting application activehm.exe, version 3.0.0.310, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.6055, fault address 0x00019af2.

Thanks Much for the help,

I don't mind working this out if someone is working on a fix...

Help Please,

Installing ActivePhonePro would have updated you to the latest version.
What version were you using before you installed the new plugin?
Rolling back shouldn't affect ActivePhonePro.

I can't remember...I bought IWatchOut several years ago...can't say it's been updated since then. I didn't think to look for the version before I bought ActivePhone Pro.

Yes it turns black if I change it then I put it back or turn off Multi-stream and it shows with the black screen inbetween. I would be happy to send my APHX file if you want to look at it.
My system is Windows  7 Pro 3.20GHZ 6GIG Ram 688 Harddrive with only about 20GIG used. ONly use it for X10.
Thanks
Randy

Quick update.

I was able to reproduce the black screen flicker on single video adapter systems, and have fixed it in the dev build.  Should be an update this week to push out this fix if testing goes well.

If anyone is using 2 video adapters and is getting the black screen flicker let me know.  I have only been able to reproduce this bug on a single adapter system, so the fix only effects that set up.
