Title: What happens when you install non-x10 motion light?
Post by: whitenack on August 08, 2011, 03:50:57 PM
What happens when you install a non-x10 motion sensing security light on a line that has an x10 wall switch?  If you hit the "on" switch, will it override the motion requirement and turn on?  And, when you hit the "off" swich, will that kill the power to the fixture, even if there is motion in front of the fixture?

The dimmable X10 wall switches can not be used to power a MS light fixture.
The only X10 switches you could do this with is a WS13A or XPS3 relay style switches (ON-OFF only, no dimming. and they require a "Line", "Load", and "Neutral" connection). They operate exactly like a standard switch in the line to the MS light would operate....when OFF there is no power to the MS fixture.
