I heard a lot rumours. And I got X10 newsletter says "Stay tuned, X10 is going to shake thing up", not sure what that means, I didn't see anything new except the same garbage newsletter everyday.
The worst thing is, I found a ebay seller which sells X10 products for cheap, but before I put an order, the seller is away, not online till now.
What is going to happen, I hope it happens quickly, not wait like this.

One of the EBay Dealers only has one style module left. They use to sell from one piece to case lots.
Another one changed the price of the XPPF filters by 3 times higher. {corrected my bad math here :o}
The affiliate program is discontinued for the rest of 2011 if you believe the affiliates web site.

No one is saying what the "Big Changes" are and if anyone does know. That information is not being passed around.
The "Big Changes" screen has been on the sales site for at least a week now.

One eBay dealer who I had bought from before had 25,000 XPPF filters listed in 25 unit lots. I was going to restock my own inventory when they pulled that listing a week or two ago.

I heard X10 only since last month, and put an order and tried it early this month. Maybe I have to wait to see if I should get more.

There was a Dave Rye article several years ago on HomeToys which gave a very large number for the number of modules sold to that time.

Had 10,000 cases available before it was cancelled. At $5 a pop, there were a few bucks tied up there. All this inventory has suddenly disappeared, which leads me to believe something is going on behind the scenes. Maybe it is a grand repricing scheme to be similar to competing products?

Interesting, but unless X10 has a remarkably simple fix for signal probagation, I don't see how they can change their pricing.

Did anyone noticed the graphics for "Stay tuned, X10 is going to shake thing up" promotion looks like tablet? Don't know if this was some random choice of graphics on their part.

Not sure what it exactly means.

Interesting, but unless X10 has a remarkably simple fix for signal propagation, I don't see how they can change their pricing.
Stronger signal levels and AGC to raise the detection threshold above the background noise level should help enormously.
X10 equipment has been incredibly cheap. I can't buy just the plastic case for what they charge for many of their modules.

I have been wondering if those large quantities listed on eBay by a few dealers represented items in the order queue, and not actual stock. Those large quantities disappeared quickly as soon as the future of X10 became questionable. Maybe someone grabbed up the remaining inventory to become THE place to get X10 equipment until it is all gone?

In a limited market, it is easier to survive to sell few expensive items than sell a lot of cheaper items. I think this home automation market getting very crowded. But I don't see anyone can replace X10 - they are the only one making lower cost devices. Alternatives to X10 are way too expensive than many users want to pay.
No matter what, I think X10 deserves great respect from HA users.

You are right. Alternative to X10 control/automation ARE far more expensive, which is why X10 getting out of HA does not make sense to me. Perhaps they think the growth of electrical noise makers like switching powersupplies, mandated CFL/LED bulb use, and the government execution of the Edison bulb as their doom. Their two wire wall switches, which can be installed by the consumer is a dinosaur watching the approaching asteroid. Their wall switches that can control CFLs and LED bulbs require a neutral in the wall box, which no one has. X10 Lamp modules may or may not work with CFLs and LED bulbs. X10 Appliance Modules will work with "green" bulbs, but sound like a 22 rifle shot anytime they change state. I dunno. I don't see a bright future for X10 HA. Obviously X10 does not think they can exist on security systems, CCTV, and remote controls, otherwise they wouldn't be selling third party PC tablets, intercoms, speakers, etc. I think X10 is trying to turn themselves into another DAK (only the techno geezers will understand) and I don't think they will make it as long as Drew did.
X10 "invented" powerline control which enabled home remote control and automation they deserve respect for that, but they have also shot themselves in the foot a lot. Sorta like Motorola who invented cellular telephony. Used to be the 800 pound gorilla but has atrophied to one tenth of what they were and just got googled. Who will wink out first?
