Can the Airpad be rooted? -Will it be upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich??[/bAnd how do you do both these tasks?] 2 very simple questions and I can't find simple answers on the X10 forums. I see X10 is coming out with new tablets, cheaper and more performant?? I hope X10 does not forget the early Airpad adopters, that would not be nice for consumers who bought the Airpad after having read on the forum that it was already rooted...and would be upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich.Official X10 staff answers would be appreciated. Cheers!

older Airpads can be rooted with a rom upgrade.
if the roms will work with the new ones I don't know but have fired off that question to X10.
roms 002 and 004 are the roms I'm told are rooted.
I haven't tested rom 004, I suspect it doesn't have marketplace.
As for a OS upgrade, I suspect a how too will filter down from the manufacturer.

Didn't really care. I don't have an Airpad and I doubt I ever will. My opinion is that's 100% stupid.

You need to flash your rom to 002 or 004 although I haven't tested 004 and I'm sure it is missing the market place.
The directions are posted on my forum.

I have played with a version of android 4.0 on the Nexus S phone and it is a fun update, however if an update for the X10 does not include the android market I would prefer to keep the current Gingerbread version on my 01 ROM.
Something to consider if you were lucky enough to get android market on your X10.
I also might mention ADW launcher is an option that creates an ICS experience, though obviously does nothing for device enhancement.

The 002 rom has market place as well and is rooted. ;)

Okay Just got some info from X10 I thought I'd pass on.
The old rom images won't work with the new AirPad 7 or 10 inch
The 7 inch was changed to allow more flexability.
Ice Cream Sandwich has been released to a few high end manufactures but not everyone.
As soon as it is release to everyone X10 will get an upgrade made and out to us.

Using the FCC Id # on the Airpad X i was able to find out that the Airpad X is actually a Zenithink ZT-280-C91.
Just look at the ZT-280-C91 on their website and you will see. Even the screen shots and videos on the web show the setting pages are the same.
On eBay people are even selling them with android 4 with the market installed.
If the ICS update provided by X10 does not include market then perhaps the ICS 4.0 version that is in beta right now for Zenithink will work.
Just make sure you download the X10 2.3.4 install file on the website if you don't like the results and need to restore your Airpad X
