Title: Refurbished would anyone recomend buying over New?
Post by: daldude on March 31, 2012, 02:18:03 PM
Would it be a good idea to buy the refurbished version of either of the Airpads vs new?
I've heard bad stories on other brands of Tablets like Acer Asus Samsung that sell for 500+ new having problems out of the box like dead pixels or separated case seams or something inside the screen bezel or shortly after purchasing having them stop working.

I'm wondering if they install new batteries in the Refurbished version or will I get a partially used battery that has less charge cycles left on it then brand new also if the tablets are so great and have not been out that long why would there already be some ones that were previously owned?
The Airpad XL is only 50 bucks less then a new one and the 7p is only 20 bucks cheaper and have only  30 day replacement policies as apposed to one can return it for a refund minus 15% if a new one is purchased.
Also what if they no longer have any refurbished units to replace the defective one?

After all it does say in the fine print

"All sales are final" :o

daldude,

You have the differences correct. If you buy a refurb, you cannot return it for credit. As long as you are sure that you intend to keep the unit, and you don't mind a cosmetic scuff or two go ahead and save some money and pick up a refurb.

The vast majority of returns that are sold as refurbs, were returned for reasons like the tablet was too big or too small. We do not change the batteries, but most returned units were only charged a few times at the most before they were returned.

Mine looks like new - still has all the "wraping" on it.

Thought there was a problem with the memory card slot - but now it seems ok - I just wasn't pushing the card in far enough.

24 hours of operation and seems to be fine.

Unless it takes a dump this week - I am very happy with it.

I bought a case with a keyboard too, but I can't get the keyboard to work with the airpad.    Does the keyboard work for you?  The keyboard works if I plug it into a desktop firmware.
