Title: Backing Up AirPad (Prior to upgrading OS)

Backing Up AirPad (Prior to upgrading OS)
By updating the operating system you will loose all data and apps. Backup everything before proceeding.

Since the designers of the Android OS have decided that we all must wipe our devices every time we want to upgrade the OS, (a totally obnoxious requirement, IMHO), I was wondering what app you gurus use to accomplish this. Is it better to use a mini-SD card, USB flash drive, sync with a PC...?

Titanium to Dropbox does the trick for me when I re-flash my 7P. File Manager can create .apk for these apps too, but you lose your settings. The only issue that I see is that Google Play & Amazon Appstore need to re-sync your apps for updates to newer versions. cj

There is an internal 6gb flash drive.  During the firmware installation it is partitioned into a 1gb drive for storing apps and 5gb for additional storage and to move apps to.  This is why when you load a new firmware you lose your apps and data.

This 6gb internal flash drive is on the AirPad 7P? Does that mean backup will be a part of the (re)flashing?

There is no automatic backup since the drive is partitioned as part of the firmware update, all data is lost. Sorry, If I am repeating myself its just I can't think of another way to put it. Perhaps someone else can reword it better.

there is not much else to be said. backup any apps on device before u flash.

I personaly don't keep alot on tablet that I can not just re-download/install from the app store.
Apps that have data I want to keep I use Titanium Backup and back-up to extsd ( make sure  change the default from /mnt/sdcard)
Music is on extsd card
Movies r on my computer and I use cifsmanager to mount my pc to tablet and watch movies over network.
If I want movies or pics to take on road I put them in my dropbox and can access them that way.
Another app to move things between tablet and pc is "software data cable"

I put this in another thread:
Do NOT use app2sd to backup your apps, they will be put in /mnt/sdcard which will be wiped during the flash.

I hope this helps
