Title: XPDFs vs LM15s with LED bulbs? Still working on the driveway project.
Post by: Robertone139 on August 14, 2012, 10:54:47 AM
(http://)Howdy, I've been down this way before (or should I say driveway). I found out that the LM15s are pushing the LED bulbs too high in the light fixtures.
Would the XPDF module be a viable alternative, the dimming function is not required I can definitely re-use the LM15s somewhere else in the house.

This seems to be a fairly straightforward and self-contained project, would I need a controller (I know I'll need one eventually).

I am going to try and upload a drawing of my project to see if any of the experts here can come up with alternative solutions.

Thanks as always. >!

Well the XPDF is designed for 40-300 watt incandescent loads and the users manual says small loads below 40 watts may pulse and flicker.

If the LED bulbs are rated for a Dimmer they may or may not work.
If they are not rated for a dimmer. I would suggest not even trying them.
Even at 100% ON the AC waveform is modified by the triac used in the dimmer circuit.
Maybe an XPFM relay type may work better.
