Title: Full installer of AHP 3.318 now available.
Post by: Tuicemen on April 28, 2014, 06:18:05 PM
Many here know since X10WTI went out of business I've been working at putting something together for the end user to get a AHP install.
With much help from my forum members I managed to put together a method (not the best but it worked) using the Marmitek version and a conversion tool users were able to get a working North American AHP.

I've taken this one step further and eliminated the need for the Marmitek version.
This new installer still displays the nag screen at startup but it does allow you to create and upload setups to the cm15a.
The installer will update a old AHP to the new version if it is installed on the PC If that is registered the new version will also be registered.
This has been tested on Windows 7(64 and 32 bit) and Win 8.1 (32 and 64 bit) OS.
It has also shown to fix issues which caused AHP to stop working.
X10 has given the OK to distribute this so here it is:
AHP 3.318 unregistered (http://tuicemen.net/downloads/Unregistered_AHP.exe)

It's nice to see everything is working for you both.
Vista was the only windows flavor I wasn't able to test.
Hopefully the registration issue can be worked out shortly.

You may also add Windows XP, Service Pack 3 to the list.

Installed easily, opened an older saved file, Changed the modules back to North american and uploaded to the CM15a and so far its running as it should.

Happy!Happy!Happy!

Nice work &  #:) Tuicemen.

Thanks. >!

On XP Pro SP 2 and 3, all worked well except the Macros don't show any Conditions to add. Both systems were virgin installs...is that where I went wrong?   B:(

Options for the plugins don't display as it is unregistered.
I'm working with the new owners to hopefully allow a registered version so the options display.
Any conditional macros previously made should still work in this unregistered version.

I'm currently using the unmodified Marmitek version (european module pictures doesn't matter that much to me) and after running AHP for a few minutes (~15) or if my comp goes to sleep while the CM15A is connected it will lock up and stop working or become an Unknown device. Any idea if this version will work better with it?
Title: Re: Full installer of AHP 3.318 now available.
Post by: Tuicemen on May 07, 2014, 07:00:41 AM
The marmitek version is a older version then this one, so issue in 3.316 may not appear in this version.
If the unregistered nags won't bother you then I'd say switch to it.

On Another note I discovered code for both the marmitec and North american versions are included in the code.
renaming the AHP.dll and city and holiday XML files should give you a registered Marmitek 3.318 version.
However I haven't attempted this.

Hi,

I had a working 3.316 system that I transfered from an XP computer to a windows 7 last autumn. On the XP it would always load the last file worked with, win 7 installation loads myhome.ahx (have now renamed my file to MyHome.ahx). The problem was that I could not get rid of the intr wizard, which messed with my installation. So downloaded and ran 3.318, but it did not register even though the old version was registered (ActiveHomePro plus Smartmacros). So now I am a bit stuck. I run my watering with it, I can control it from my remote but not from PC as it does not show switch.

Even though this is a unregistered install if your AHX file was created with a registered version all macros should still work.
You won't be able to create new macros depending on registered plugins as the options only display on registration.

That being said if you have installed this on a machine that already had a registered version it is possible to get the registration back.
AHP creates a encrypted file that looks at your PC hardware this file is either in the D:\Program Files (x86)\ActiveHome Pro or D:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\X10\Common if you have these two folders backed up you should be able to get everything registered again by overwriting those folders with your back up.

Note: this won't work if you installed on a new PC.

Oh man I just discovered X10 is out and my AHP is toast. :-(  Thanks for your efforts so far.

What really sucks is I had AHP with all the plugins running in a VM (Virtual Machine) in VMware. A few years back one of the VM files was accidentally deleted breaking the VM. I just deleted everything thinking if I ever needed to change anything I could just reinstall. Now I find out its No Joy. :-(  I'm scouring my old hard drives and backups hoping I have a copy of the VM. You see the VM was just stopped so that you could start the VM and AHP would think its been running all along, no need for the X10 servers. I once had to activate when my cable was down so I created a VM to bypass the need for online activation and to cut down on the electric bill. I keep one computer running and I used to have my virtual home automation PC with AHP running in the background. I just upgraded my computer and here I am... bummer. :-(
At at least efforts are being made to get things working again.

I just replaced my XP machine with a Windows 7 version.  I used your installer, then copied the XP directories (program and shared) to the appropriate places on the Win7 box.

It all works fine and shows as registered so it has no nag screen, and includes Smart Macros, etc.

Life is good!  The only remaining bug is that it sometimes asks me if I want to close without saving.  I think I have read something about that on these boards, but it is only annoying, not serious.

Thanks, Tuicemen!

The Other Steve.

I just want to say thanks for what you have done.  I just downloaded this software and it works perfectly as advertised.  I am just a plugger, and really appreciate the effort you put in to make this happen.  My system has not worked for over a year when my PC died and carried the original software to the grave with it.  Thanks again........

For some reason, this version wants to download to the CM11, not the CM15.  How do I get it to download to the CM15 unit?
Title: Re: Full installer of AHP 3.318 now available.

In the Tools Tab
See what the CM11 configuration choice is set to.
Should be set to Disabled.
If it is disabled and keeps indicating you may have a CM11. Then the CM15A is not being found on the USB connector.
Let us know what you find in your checks.

Brian H., I did as you suggested and the download worked perfectly.  Now my only remaining problem is to get all of my old X10 modules to go on and off according to how I have timed them..  Some work fine, and I will finally find the correct software module that will make the rest work.  It's nice to have X10 back and working, if only at half  speed.  Thanks for your help.

There are two drop down lists for dimmer type X10 devices.
The Lamps List is for any newer module with Soft Start {ramp On and Off in about two seconds} that can use extended X10 messages.
Older Lamps (No Soft Start).
If you use a older module with out Soft Start and pick it from the Lamps List. It may not turn On correctly.

Hi everyone.

I have AHP + plugins running on Windows XP but I'd like to get it working on Windows 7 now. I'm not sure I understand how exactly to do this without losing anything. Should I save AHP files from Windows XP and if so which ones? Do I install the AHP 3.318 first on Windows 7 and then add the AHP files from the Windows XP machine?

I'd appreciate it if someone could post step-by-step instructions. Thanks.

If a machine doesn't currently have AHP installed and registered you will only be able to have a unregistered version as the encrypted AHP registration file compares hardware.

If AHP is already on a PC and you are updateing the OS you need to back up your AHP files  first.
Then install the new OS and AHP.
Once AHP is installed copy your AHP files to there respective folders and over write the files.
This will give you a full registered AHP and Plug-ins.

As an addition to the above for a working, registered install:

If you only copy the program directory, it will run.  Only if you copy the  user data directory as well will it run as registered.

(My experience moving from XP to Win7 X64.  YMMV.)

Brian, one more question regarding this version of AHP.  I finally have all my lights working ok, however, they only work as programmed when the CM15A is hooked up to my PC.  is this something I have to live with?  The CM15 will not work independent of the PC.

The Users Manual and other good information is on this X10 Wiki Site.
http://kbase.x10.com/wiki/ActiveHome_Pro

You can load timers and simple macros into the CM15A and then let it run with the computer off.
The above link may have the information you need or if you still have questions. Feel free to ask.

Tuicemen, I have a registered copy of AHP + plugins on Windows XP.  I want to put that AHP on a different computer with Windows 7 on it. So are you saying I can put the AHP 3.318 program on the freshly installed Windows 7 and then copy my AHP folders from the XP machine to it? Which folders from AHP do I copy and how do I overwrite the files?

You can copy the files to the new machine, However this will not give you a registered version :(
Most of your plugins should work however you can't create any new macros using the plugins from inside AHP.
One user has discovered you can do that from inside note pad editing the AHX file.

If you copy the files from XP to win 7 windows will ask if you wish to overwrite just click yes.
the file in C:\Program files\ActiveHome Pro is what you'll want the files/folders in C:\Program files\common files\x10 won't help you

Tuicemen,

I updated my computer from XP to Windows 7 and didn't move my x-10 active home pro.  Well I downloaded the European version and it worked for a while, then became very slow downloading timers and macros and finally stopped working while I'd try turning on lights.  I only use my X10 for several lights switches.  I was so glad that you created an updated American version of X10 that worked!  So, I downloaded it yesterday and sure enough the download bar went zooming by and there was no delay in activating light switches!  Now a day later, it's acting up again being very slow when toggling a light switch on/off and essentially quit working.  My small hand held X10 remote still works manually.  I sure would appreciate any suggestions what to do?

Thanks

I downloaded the installer and activehome still does not respond. I left the old non working on my computer--should I delete that version first and then download your version. I been using active home like twenty years or so and have invested much money in modules. I have four cameras setup with Vanguard and use it with activehome. I am willing to pay for new software for it. Thanks for all your help.

In AHP under tools purge delayed macros then Under tools again clear interface.
It sounds like you may have a looping macro so you'll want to check your macros.
Once you have ensured you don't have any looping macros or ones with possible errors be sure the AHP recycle bin is empty and update the interface.
petees
In your ProgramData\X10 Settings delete the X10Active.xml file then try starting AHP.
If AHP still fails then do the following:
Make a back up copy of your AHX files from the ActiveHome Pro folder then delete the non working version download and install this one.
once installed you can copy your AHX files back to the ActiveHome pro folder

If downloading info to the Cm15 being slow is the only issue I wouldn't worry about it.
The larger the amount you download the slower it will be.
However you can try another USB port also look at what else is running on your PC.

The issue is all downloads are super slow like something is hanging up and the light switches will very slowly toggle but not activate the lights.  I also unplugged the USB and moved it with no luck.  So, nothing is working after purging and clearing the interface.  I still don't understand what a looping macro is...
I realize this diagnosing is a pain, but I appreciate your help with my issue!

Using the search function of the forum will help debugging looping macros which are macros that repeat continuously (stuck in a loop).
If you don't have macros then this isn't the issue.

Do you have another USB cable you can try?
Have you done any PC maintenance lately (defrag, scandisk, virus scan.....)?

I swapped the USB cable that's plugged into the wall unit and batteries are fresh.  I also ran a scan on my Webroot security application and even defraged my computer with no improvements getting AHP to work.  Should I reinstall AHP or any other ideas?

With AHP closed, try deleting C:\ProgramData\X10 Settings\x10active.xml
Then restart AHP that will recreate that file.
Sometimes this file gets corrupt with windows updates and will cause AHP to crash.
I haven't heard of it slowing things down to the point of not working, but I suppose it is possible.
Note: you may need to enable seeing system files and folders

Could you please walk me through specifically how close down AHP and "try deleting C:\ProgramData\X10 Settings\x10active.xml"?  Sorry, I'm not quite sure how to accomplish this.

Simply close AHP red x top right check yes in the warning box that appears.
Next go to file explorer and navigate to C:\ProgramData\X10 Settings
If this isn't possible then select vie from the menu at the top of the page and then check to view system files and folders.
then try navigating again.
Find the  x10active.xml file and right click on it then check delete.

I have a question on wheather the program is full (complete) or not, and if not what went wrong? I have AHP 3.318 on 2 machines. One is a laptop with Vista that seems to be working or at least was and now I am not sure and working on it with you folks. The other one is on a Windows 7 machine. On the Windows 7 machine, when I open the program, I go through what you call the nag screen, after that the Vista machine tells you (as did the original x-10 program) that you do not have the interface connected to the computer, etc. The windows 7 machine does NOT say this. Is that an indication that the application is not complete? If so what can I do?

You can copy the files to the new machine, However this will not give you a registered version :(
Most of your plugins should work however you can't create any new macros using the plugins from inside AHP.
One user has discovered you can do that from inside note pad editing the AHX file.

Well, its time for me to get myself a new PC.   My current (old) PC has AHP 3.318 installed, registered, and the plugins registered.

There is no way for me to "copy" or "transfer" the registered-ness from my old PC to my new PC?    There is no file or no registry entry that would work if I moved such over?

BTW, I can understand that the new X10 people haven't been able to recover the server database used to register AHP.   Could they simply start from scratch and build a new database?   That we could supply to them, our codes, and they add them?   I mean, if they want proof, I could supply them with a copy of my receipt for the software.

I believe it was in Tuicemens Forums.
http://tuicemen.com/forum/

I saw a post from a member getting their AHP copied from their old computer to work on a new one.
Seems part of the registration code written to hard drive used the drives volume number.
They used a program to set the new computers hard drive volume number to match the original computers volume number. As part of the transfer.

you should have the full program if it worked prior to your issue.

the file C:\ProgramData\X10 Settings\x10active.xml has been known to cause issues with AHP working correctly.
I haven't heard of it affecting Daylight savings times but I guess that is possible.
try:
with AHP clear your cm15 then close AHP
delete the x10active.xmlfile or rename it.
restart your PC and AHP.
then in AHP download to the cm15a Updating the interface.

Interesting clue.   -:)

Though, it still makes me feel even more frustrated.   B:(   This clue leads me to be even more sure, that if "they" wanted, there could easily be a standalone registration utility that would generate the needed tid-bits on our PC's, to make AHP acknowledge we are a duly registered user.

Sorry, I should have posted here too.

I think I found something that may shed more light on the problem.  The Volume Serial Number on your old install Drive has something to do with it.  I was able to migrate my existing AHP from one computer to another.

Here is what I did:

1.  Backed up the ActiveHome Pro Directory on a thumbdrive
2.  Backed up the Common file dir (In my case C:\Program Files\Common Files\X10)
3.  Copied down the old Drive Volume Serial Number
4.  On the new computer I ran a program I found to edit the Volume Drive Serial Number and changed it to match my old machine.
5.  Reboot
6.  Ran the old Active Home SDK installer first.
5.  Then ran the old X10 Drivers installer
6.  Killed off x10nets with Windows Task Manager
7.  Restored Active Home Directory from thubdrive
8.  Restored common files X10 Directory
9.  Ran ActiveHm.exe from the ActiveHome Pro directory and all came up as registered.

AHP 3.318 unregistered (http://tuicemen.com/downloads/Unregistered_ahp.exe)

Thank you Tuiceman for your work on keeping all of us X10 users humming. When my server went down a couple of years ago (it ran my AHP and ActivePhone and Smart Marco) and I had to start from scratch with a new box, I found out like everyone else that we were screwed. But after reading a lot of posts, I was successful in getting the Marmitek European software (3.316) to work and it has done a great job for the basic on/off/dim functions, plus it shows that Smart Macros is also registered (though I never use it). In fact, I have never experienced a crash, nor have I had any problems downloading to my controller. And there is no nag screen (important as I reboot the server daily).

But pretty soon I am going to rebuild the server and will need to re-setup everything. I bring this up to ask which way to go - keep what I have (weird modules pictures but no big deal) or use the newer 3.318 (which I assume has the correct US module pictures and maybe some bug fixes)? I do plan to keep Win7 on the new server. And I don't care about Smart Macros (but I would REALLY like to get ActivePhone to work - know anything about work being done to get it working again?).

Thanks again for your efforts and answers.

Active Phone relies on the old X10 servers. Authinix has a IT guy working on these old out dated servers but he also looks after other stuff so he has a heavy work load.
I believe there was at least one server that was lost(I hope I'm wrong), what all was on it is any ones guess ::) :'

There also is a programmer looking at retrieving and rebuilding the AHP code if the code can be completely retrieved and a version compiled then code may be re worked.
Reworking the code would enable AHP and many of the plugins to run with out the old X10 servers.
However code for AHP was not all on anyone server but parts on several servers and some code may have been on the lost server. : B:(

Since I have seen some of the code from AHP I know it is the same for the Marmitec version, the only difference appears to be some file names.
I'll attempt to put together a European 3.318 version however the Active phone plug-in wasn't created for it.

As for which version you should run depends on if you still plan to reboot your new server daily

Thank you very much for all the information. Looks like it is a wait and see game. I guess I will stick with what I have - I do need to reboot daily for a specific application and with what I have right now I don't get that nag screen. I am just going to have to remember how I got to the current setup.

Have a nice weekend.

What program are you using to try and access the cameras?
Any of the AHP Plug Ins that used the X10WTI servers for access are no longer available.
There maybe alternatives to access the cameras.

There are several programs available to view your x10 cameras with.
Even controlling them can be done with third party software like Pc Companion (http://www.tuicemen.com/pccompanion/pccompanion.html)

3.  Copied down the old Drive Volume Serial Number
4.  On the new computer I ran a program I found to edit the Volume Drive Serial Number and changed it to match my old machine.
5.  Reboot

Just to mention, you can get the old Drive Volume Serial Number by simply using the DIR command from a DOS Command Prompt (C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe).

Code: [Select]
C:\>dir
Volume in drive C is W7 Prog Disk
 Volume Serial Number is 86FB-934B

Also, Microsoft itself offers a free Volume Serial Number changer.   Its available at: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897436.aspx

I just did this and was able to move my running install from an old XP machine to a newly installed Win7 machine. Though I have not plugged the CM15a in yet, I did this all remotely so I'll have to finish testing it later. But here are the sets I did.

1. Set the volume serial number to match my old machine. I used a program called Hard Disk Serial Number Changer from xboxharddrive.com.
2. Installed the SDK from Tuicemen at http://tuicemen.com/downloads/ahsdk_install.exe
3. Restored both the Active Home and X10 folders from my XP machine.
From XP c:\program files\activehome pro to win7 c:\program files (x86)\activehome pro
From XP c:\program files\common file\x10 to win7 c:\program files (x86)\common files\x10

Started up AHP and it started and showed registered. Only error was my interface was not connected.
I also use smart macros and on alert. Both show registered as well.

It sounds like the volume serial number (VSN) must be stored with the registration information in one of the files you copied over.  If this is true, then we could package that file (once we determine what it is) with a script.  The script could install the file and prompt whether it may change the user's VSN to register the plugins.  Yes, it's a hack, but it's better than nothing until Authinx can get registration back online for real.  AFAIK, the volume serial number was only used for MS-DOS to determine whether a particular disk was inserted.  Windows uses a separate disk signature rather than the VSN for that purpose, so nothing should break there.  It's possible, though, that other software on the computer uses the VSN for registration, so changing the VSN could break registration for those apps.  With that in mind, it would be nice to be able to back up the original VSN and restore it if necessary (i.e. "uninstall" the registration hack).

I no longer have a registered AHP installation so I'm currently unable to test/develop this, but if someone with an installation of AHP with all the plugins registered can send me their AHP files and volume serial number, I could probably do it.

Title: CM15A Memory Full Error Message
Post by: tzygmunt on October 26, 2014, 12:27:41 PM
I installed AHP 3.318 after a system failure.  It installed nicely and it even shows as being registered (it found my old registration info somewhere on my system).  I set up the rooms but when I selected to download the timers and macros I received a message that said "There is not enough space in the interface to download your timers and macros".  The memory usage table on the error message window shows 0.00% usage for all categories.  I have two CM15As and I get the same message for both.  I'm running the software on a Windows 7 (64) machine and I am using a CM15A interface.  Also I have an unregistered version on another machine (W7/64) and both CM15As work well.

Can you recommend any "fixes" that I can try?

Whenever I make changes in Activehome, following advice here, I first empty the recycle bin, clear pending macro events,  clear interface memory, "hardware configuration", then download macro's and timers. When I do this, my Activehome and CM15A are rock solid.

However in order to create a build that will create a registered AHP with all plug-ins I need some info from someone who now has a working copy of AHP and all plug-ins registered to Tim Forehand ( The deceased original owner of Authinx) .
Anyone with such a working copy is asked to PM me.

I now have a working tool which will convert this version of AHP to a registered version. :)%
See: Registering AHP on a new PC (http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=28979.0)
Since no one yet has come forward with a registered version and all plug-ins registered to Tim Forehand users must rely on back ups they personally have.
It looks like I must broaden the search to anyone with AHP and at least the plug-ins available in the Marmitec version (Smart macros  & the security plugins) registered to Tim Forehand.

If you have this & are willing to share one file and the volume ID, PM me and I'll walk you threw how to get the info needed to me.

I don't have a currently registered version of ActiveHome Pro.  Several years ago I did buy a CM15A that came with all the plug-ins, but I only installed the basic program.  That was several hard drives ago, and I only have the Marmitek version installed now (just for testing).

I still have those old hard drives kicking around somewhere, and can search to see what I can find on one of them.  But it would be a very old version of ActiveHome Pro with none of the plug-ins.  Let me know if that might be helpful.

I don't think the version of AHP matters I'd have to do some testing.
However I do know it doesn't matter what version of windows it was on.

If you happen to find the old hard drive don't try to open AHP on your new PC as that might destroy the registration info.
I'd be interested even if it was just to test to see if a old version worked.

The situation hasn't changed yet though there has been some work on this from other users.
If you have the old drive that had AHP installed and registered it may be able to retrieve the registration file AHP used to store the registration.
As long as AHP hasn't been run from that drive on the new PC you can retrieve this info and get AHP working on your new PC using AHP Lifejacket (http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=28994.msg162407#msg162407)

My Hard Drive was making noise so I got a new one and used the manufacturers hard drive clone program.
No AHP want me to register a previously registered and working AHP.
My thoughts are the replacement hard drive has a different volume ID.
Any thoughts on this?

you have every thing needed just edit your modules as Brian stated
Brian:
Using AHP Lifejacket  (http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=28994.msg162407#msg162407) you can get your AHP back registered.
You do need the Volume ID of the old drive as well as the x10prod.sys file.
Once AHP is starting as registered you can change your drive ID back to avoid issues with other installed programs.

Did a new install on a win XP Pro PC:

Used Vol ID from original AHP install on old PC as per instructions. Had to copy entire x10 folder to Common Folder for AHP to show registered. Replacing just the x10prod.sys file did not work per instructions.

Also Note: Reverting back to the Vol ID prior to the AHP install subsequently "Unregistered AHP and plugins".
Changing Vol Id also unregistered other software on this PC and upon reverting back that software remained unregistered and had to be re-registered.

Since XP is no longer supported very little testing was done on that OS or Vista (which I don't have)
It is also not recommended to attempting to register by changing your volume ID if you have other registered software already installed as many look at that for registration.
The same can be said for reverting back to the old ID.
Anything that relies on this info will be affected and there are special steps to revert.
Miss one and it will fail.

Tuicemen thanks for the info. The thought occurred to me yesterday to take an old laptop I had and turn it into an AHP machine for backup since it was too old/slow for anything else. In the process I thought I would try some of the things reported in this thread and provide feedback to other AHP orphans.
In particular I was interested in the effects of reverting back to the original laptop Vol ID after getting AHP registered and its affect on AHP and other software.

Hope some find this helpful.

Many seem to think because XP is no longer supported that they need a new PC.
This is not the Case, Windows 7 and or 8 will install on older machines just not the 64 bit OS.
I have installed Windows 8.1 on a old PC with a Intel Atom 1.66 GHZ processor with 3 gigs of ram and also Windows 7 on a HP Thin client PC with similar specs.

AHP will run on Windows 98 too but I'm unsure if anyone has attempted to install and register on that old of a win version.
Humm, I may attempt that  ::) :'
If Authinx (X10) ever finds all the code for AHP and does a updated build it most likely won't work on the older versions of Windows.

Also for a AHP only machine to just write, update and download macros, XP is just fine since it won't be online and don't need to worry about security issues. As a matter of fact an old laptop with a CM11a makes a poor man's CM15a complete with battery backup. This scenario does draw about 17 watts at idle though with lid closed/display off though. That was going to be my CM15a backup if they had gone out of production!

Hi All, long time just wanted to pass on this bit of info there is a registry hack that will let you continue to receive xp updates i did this yesterday after installing xp on to a machine then updating to service pack 3 which you can still get from microsoft. my machine did 175 security updates. To apply the hack, create a text file with a .reg extension and the contents below:
Quote
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]
"Installed"=dword:00000001

my vista machine went down with all my x10 registered components i had in the shop hoping to have it restored.

This was my thinking originally for my thin client.
However I've since found other things I wish to run too which requires the newer OS but still consumes little power(14 watts)
I have it connected to a large LED TV so if it is on the consumption is far greater.

This means anyone can freely have a registered copy of the North American ActiveHome Pro with plugins(Smartmacros, OnAlert, iWatchout, and MyHouse Online)
It does not mean Authinx has given up on resurrecting AHP and improving it.
I think it shows their commitment to making AHP and all Plugins Free.
The Owner was very concern about end users privacy and someone making money from this.
Once I assured him I was making it available freely with no emails or personal info changing hands he agreed to allow me to include the registration info.
I'll get a direct link posted in the AHP Lifejacket  (http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=28994.msg162697#msg162697)thread today.

HAL.dll is not an AHP file. It is a Microsoft file that is part of the Operating System and maybe a different version between your Vista and Windows7 computers.
You may want to use your working computer to do a web search. To find out how to correct the Microsoft file corruption.

You shouldn't move any files over to windows 7 until you've tried to fix your vista machine.
Even then the only file your going to need is you hax file as it has your settings.
Use the AHP3.318 installer to be sure you get all the drivers on the Win7 machine then use lifejacket to register.

astrothug,

You can try running sfc /scannow from the command line on your vista machine to repair corrupted system files but you will need the windows Vista installation disk for the file recovery.

Thank you for the quick reply.  I should have been more clear In my 1 post. My vista machine has a corrupt hal.Dll file and therefore will not boot up. I have exchanged dll files but still not working.  All my x10 registered components where on it. So I took out hard drive and put it into my win 7 machine as a D drive. I moved all my  x10 folders over and  would like to use AHP life jacket to register it. Thanks. And yes I have tried to recover vista using the cd but it's still not working. Thanks guys.

My AHP server has been running for several years with nearly no intervention on my part.  As a consequence, I've been out of the loop regards the demise of X10 support.

A few days ago, the hard drive on my AHP server crashed and I was forced to do a clean install of Win 7 on a new hard drive.  I can  access all the old files from the old drive...it just won't boot.

I've been trying to read and catch up on all the good work being done by Tuiceman on how to salvage and restore a working, registered installation of AHP, but the more I read, the further down the rabbit hole I fall.  Do I install the 3.328 installer first, then use Lifejacket?  Or do I simply over write the directories using the original files off the old drive?

So sorry, but I'm rather confused and wonder if there is a clear process that I've missed.

Really appreciate any help...cheers!

The easiest is to install 3.318 then copy your files from the old drive and overwrite the files.
This way all drivers will get configured correctly.
If you can retrieve the drive ID from your old drive you'll should be able to have all your old plugins registered using AHP lifejacket.
Read the steps in AHP lifejacket if you skip something the registration will fail and you'll need to run it again.

Important: once you copy all your old info over to the new drive do not open AHP until you run AHP Lifejacket.

When getting the VOL ID off the old drive, are we looking for label (name), or the actual Serial Number?

Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is CC09-896D

First off, thanks to Authinx for keeping X10 alive! I hope over time that you will be able to bring back all the legacy components and that third parties will once again join in to produce various components.
Thanks to Tuicemen and others for their efforts in resurrecting the AHP software.

I have been an X10 user since the late 80s staring out with a Radio Shack branded mini-timer, a lamp module and an appliance module. I was hooked! I have used a couple of different control systems since currently the CM15A with over 30 various X10 components.

To remove one of the plugins included one simply needs to edit the plugins xml file

It has been over four years since I have logged on. I did not know about all the changes. I noticed this posting about "Full installer of AHP 3.318 now available" My system is still working all these years as I upgraded to WinXP, Win 7, and now Win 10. I have had no problems. Is there any advantage of using the new installer program? I still have backups of my original copy of AHP 3.318 plus a couple of other exe programs I downloaded at the time. Are any of those of any value to anyone?
Title: Re: Full installer of AHP 3.318 now available.
Post by: Tuicemen on February 14, 2016, 10:54:35 AM
Most of the old exe setup files were not full installers but required a internet connection and linked to a X10 server to retrieve the actual install files.
If these files do that they are useless and will never be of any use as Authinix doesn't have a server for that.
Given the fact that they intend to make AHP free it doesn't appear they will create a server or it would have been done by now.

If you have AHP 3.318 installed and running registered there is no benefit to using this installer.
If you don't have Smartmacros , OnAlert or iWatchout plugins then it would be beneficial however you'll need AHP Lifejacket to register.
Also make backups prior in case you wish to revert.

Thanks for the information. It will be useful if I have a crash and can't recover. About the time I downloaded the AHP file in 2011, I also downloaded two exe files from X10. They have strange names. Maybe they would be helpful. They are named:
1.  coreinfo64.exe
2.  setup0.233630421877937.exe

I don't remember what they were for.

I also have PDF files from X10 over that period of time. They are:
1.  4060new.pdf
2.  5081new.pdf
3.  um506-is.pdf

um-506-is.pdf is the X10 Universal Module manual.
4060new.pdf is the instructions for the X10Pro PSC01 or X10 PF284 Powerflash module. Using the Smarthome stock numbers manual download link.
5081new.pdf is the instructions for the Carlon RC3250 Extend-A-Chime using the Smarthome stock numbers manual download link.

If the exe file size is 122 kb or there abouts and I suspect they are, then they are mere boot straps and not full installers.

 :)% Tuicemen,

I have been an X10 devotee since the early '80s. We have two homes, both electrically committed to X10 lighting controls which I installed myself. When the Leviton 6311 controller failed in our CT home, your renaissance version of ActiveHomePro 3.318 has exceeded the performance of the original hardwired controller.

Deep thanks for your dedication to the X10 concept and prolonging its effective life.

My question is: Can we now download and use Active Home Pro without the required registration?  Or do I need to determine a way to pull AHP from my old PC and add to the new PC?

Thanks!

you can download and install AHP with out registration.
this will give you an unregistered version(3.318) using AHP-Lifejacket you can register all your current plugins and AHP taking info from your old PC.
Or you can just use the default and get AHP, smart macros, onalert as well as the camera plugin and my house (both of which at obsolete) which will appeared registered to me.

Tuiceman...by "taking info from your old PC", do you mean just recording the drive volume serial number on the old drive and using Lifejacket to assign this number to the new drive?

After a few challenges, I was able to get AHP to install but it doesn't seem to recognize the CM15.  I can turn lights on/off with the palm pad remote, but not with AHP.

Device Manager on this Win 10 64bit clean installation shows "PCI Simple Communications Controller" has no driver installed and no compatible driver is available.  I've tried updating the drivers using Intel's driver manager with no change  I'm not sure if this is affecting the CM15 or not?

This is a Intel legacy board DG33FB with a Core 2 Quad Q9300 and 8GB ram.  It's really a fine platform for this use and I'd like to get everything running on Windows 10 but perhaps that is an unrealistic effort not worth the pain?

I'm going to try some more fiddling B:( and would appreciate any ideas any of you may have.  Ultimately, I my wind up putting the old Windows 7 drive back in as everything was working perfectly: Blue Iris, AHP, X10 Commander, Alex10 and the HA Bridge.

Thanks all...hope you are having more fun that I am! :)

You should not use any driver for the cm15 other then what comes with AHP. Doing so will render AHP in operable.
You can find the correct driver for the cm15 in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common files\x10\driverinstall\Wireless Transceivers

I have the same problem that tomh (Feb 22, 2018) indicated he had when installing the AHP 3.318 software from the link at the top, "It sticks at attempting to finish installation (blue progress bar)."  In my case I waited an hour and no action.  I got the same results on two previous attempts, but didn't wait between attempts  until I read tomh's experience. I only use lamp and appliance modules with the software.

Your thoughts, please.

Also, when I try to run Blue Iris as a Service, AHP does not execute BI command. :'(

When I posted about broken link I believe I was looking at an outdated post of your at your Tuicemen site. These old posts never go away and come up in searches. I've now found it and installed it. Unfortunately, I can't make it work reliably. The sample room works, but as I add rooms, modules, timers, etc. at some point it starts telling me the interface isn't installed. Once that happens, nothing I do, including uninstalling/reinstalling, unplug & R/R batteries, will get me reconnected. It's happened on my Windows 10 machine and on my Windows 7 machine. About ready to throw in the towel

……... at some point it starts telling me the interface isn't installed. Once that happens, nothing I do, including uninstalling/reinstalling, unplug & R/R batteries, will get me reconnected...….

If the install has you in peril (I didn't want to use the word screwed)…. you might want to do a system "restore" to a date just previous to your first DL attempt. Then you'll be able to start from scratch with the correct DL/install.

Have you considered trying the PiX10Hub? The CM15a plugs into it and is just used as an interface.

Updating links to old software that hasn't been updated in 5 years longer makes no sense if the manufacture can't or won't support it.
The hardware is sound the software your attempting to use it with has run its coarse. Life Jacket gave users time to find a suitable replacement. AHP has drivers written for Windows 98 sure some were updated for Vista but we all know how well that OS stayed with us.

I considered it briefly, but decided to keep poking around with AHP because there seem to be a lot of people still using it successfully.

The benefits of using the PiX10Hub far out weigh the cons ;)
I also believe you'll find more users have filed AHP and moved on then are now using it.

The CM15A, AHP, and all the related software's and on-line connectivity made.... was just completely awesome.... a decade ago. But things change. Technologically advanced things.... change overnight. Much of the best automation.... isn't touched by the old CM15A. Although they can still find some healthy service as an interface. I use one with my Homeseer. And I've read of a way of using one with a Samsung SmartTthings Hub too.

Plus I still run a stand alone CM15A (with limited macros) and I am sure thousands of other do too.

Dave & Tuicemen,

I take your points. However, my needs are simple: a few lights on timers in the house and yard. AHP and CM15A seem to do that. I do recognize that those in this forum are responsible for making this technology still viable. Many thanks.

The thing with HA your requirements are always changing. I don't try to change anyones mind on their  HA program choice all have their pros and cons. If it works for you great.
However even microsoft stops supporting old software. Authinx has been attempting to get a developer to update AHP for the last 5 years with no progress as yet. I suspect they will give up on this idea very shortly.

Every now and then something needs to be said about how you helpers in this community go out of your way to give out tried true, new, and innovative suggestions here. You are also patient and tactful how you handle folks with, let's say dated thoughts and questions. Keep up the good work, and thanks

Wow. I am so addicted to this stuff.... I can't even think like that. My Home Automation set-up continues to grow and transform. I am always looking to incorporate new technologies...… or in more recent months... set aside older technologies. But at no time in the last 15 years or so has my setup ever been considered static or done.

For me Home Automation is a lifestyle as well as a hobby. I try to always be working on something.... even if it's just in the planning/dreaming stage.

I clicked on the link to download 3.318 and ended up on a 404 page.  Has the download page moved and if so, where can I find it?

Also, the note on the 3.318 update stated "The installer will update a old AHP to the new version if it is installed on the PC If that is registered.". I take that to mean that since i have an existing original registered version of AHP on a working XP machine, the 3.318 download will simply update my existing AHP while retaining the existing home file.  Is that correct?

Why is the download link to AHP 3.318 showing up as a 404 page?

I found 3.318 full installer in a link on the X10 Wiki. The one on the X10 sales site is an older version.

Do you have a driver for the CM15A
You could try installing the ActiveHome Scripting SDK (https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2279/4329/files/ahsdk_install.exe?14146635027518984082) alongside AHP, which contains the CM15A driver.  Then install the X10Nets update (http://forums.tuicemen.net/index.php?topic=779.0) from Tuicemen.

It looks like the download link is broken on Tuicemen's site, but maybe @Tuicemen can fix that for you.

Make sure you are right-clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator" for each of these.

X10 has given the OK to distribute this so here it is:
AHP 3.318 unregistered (http://tuicemen.net/downloads/Unregistered_AHP.exe)

This doesn't work. Looks like juicemen.net in no longer registered.

I believe this is the same file that was on my site as I did supply Authinx with the file.
http://www.authinx.com/software/SW31A/AHP_3.318.exe
NOTE: This a unregister version. You'd still have to use Ahp lifejacket to get rid of the registration nags and some plugins working. >!

I have had AHP 3.318 running on my Windows 10 Pro PC for years for all outside lighting and some inside.  A couple of months ago, something was squirrely so I wanted to uninstall it and do a clean install.  A Windows box popped up that the app couldn't be uninstalled and I had to contact the manufacturer for help.  I didn't have time to pursue it at the time so I just forced a 3.318 (re)install on top.  So not sure what did or did not happen, but AHP has generally been working correctly.  I randomly get a lamp to turn on without reason and periodically the time shifts until I download Config and Timers, the shift perhaps coincident with AC blip during weather.

Any insight into the uninstall balking?
