Title: Help capturing RF and IR codes and translating them to X10

I was wondering if this was possible. I have several older X10 modules lying around. I have several remote controls, some RF some IR. I want to capture the code sent when I press a button on the remote and then be able to send that code by pressing an assigned X10 button, either on my X10 remote or via software. Is this possible? Thanks.

Can you be more specific?

It's fairly easy to capture codes, whether IR or RF, but it's not clear what you mean by translating them to X10. The following links may help...

Thanks for the reply. Sadly, I'm not a DIY electronics guy, so assembling on a  breadboard is not what I had in mind.

I'm assuming that I have a RF receiver in the TM751As I have. I also have both a Firecracker and a CM19A transceiver. And I think I have an old UX17A in a box somewhere. I'd like to be able to use a remote near a device, capture the code of the pressed remote button, and then have that code available for software* available to use for X10 control. For example, I have a couple of Hunter fans in the house with remotes. I also have stereo equipment that uses IR remotes, so I'd like to be able to also point the remote at the device with the same results.

*I have downloaded a copy of ActiveHome Pro and another software package called X10 Commander that works with an installed server on a PC and a cell phone client over WIFI. Any software you're aware of that would help me would be great! Thanks again.

Years ago I added code to Pc Companion (http://www.tuicemen.com/pccompanion/pccompanion.html) for the ux17 however I found many newer devices wouldn't work with it so I added support for the USB Uirt (http://www.usbuirt.com/) which captured ir codes as well as sent them.

Others will be more familiar with the UX17A - I don't believe it has any learning capability but uses a large (and long outdated) database of IR codes.

And, I'm unaware of any device that can learn RF codes.

While down in the catacombs looking for the IR543AH, I stubbed my toe on a USBUIRT (probably one of the first shipped) as well as a UX17A. EDIT: I briefly reviewed the USB-UIRT in mid 2003 on comp.home.automation...

The problem with RF is the wide number of frequencies used by consumer RF devices in N. America. Hunter uses 250MHz-350MHz (my list is ~15 yrs old). If you know the frequency, it might be fairly simple to modify the USB-UIRT to both learn and send RF but it is definitely a DIY project akin to those referenced earlier.

I found a little device that plugs into the USB port on my Galaxy S7 Edge.  It has an Android app that learns IR codes and allows a user to create a variety of remotes.

KKmoon Universal IR Appliances Wireless Infrared Remote Controller sells for $10, and the ZaZaRemote app is free. It's kinda cool. When learning, it actually displays the signal it receives.
