Title: x2 and x18 cameras
Post by: Mic_ on December 15, 2017, 07:58:10 PM
I realize that the x cameras are no longer an item; however, I have a question. I still have a few of them installed. Once upon a time I was able to see the cams using my active home Pro software. I can not access the cams in the resurrected Active Home Pro however. Has this question already been posed here? I may not have any choice but to remove the xcams.

Yeah... back in the old "original X10" days... you could access your cameras on-line via the X10 servers. When the old original X10 went under those servers disappeared. There are other... P2P software products (I think) that should allow a PC or Phone connection to your 24/7 connected PC. But I think most of us have opted for the higher image quality, easily connected (just scan a barcode image with your phone), server connected DVR's.

The resurrected AHP does have the Iwatchout (camera plugin) built in.
You however need to activate it with AHP-lifejacket. the trick is finding a USB camera capture device that actually works with the new Windows.
I also have several usable Xcams I'd love to use, however I've moved to IP cameras now which allow me to view from anywhere.

Indeed; when the old x10 went belly up, one could no longer access the x2 and x18 cams via iwatchout. Since the crash however, I was able to view and switch between cams inside active home pro, locally. The observation here, that video capture with the new windows platform, could be the issue. I too moved to IP cams, however, if I can get the x2 and x18 cams to work, I will still use them. Thanks all for the helpful inputs here

For local only viewing a simple solution can be an old XP machine. Or a (still available through Amazon) video switcher... for display on a (lower definition) TV.

Some of the security DVR camera outfits allow for connection of older (lower image quality) cameras. I used an old X10 cam on my Internet viewable (I viewed on my phone) 8 camera unit/system.... until recent months.

Tuicemen went through some members that had either never posted, or hadn't been on in awhile. Think he knocked out some accounts.
You'll have to ask Tuicemen to be sure, but I think you may have to register again.

Below, is what I get when I try to register on that site

HTTP 500 error
That’s odd... the website can’t display this page
The site may be under maintenance or could have a programming error.
Try this
Go back to the last page
Try contacting the website’s owner

You are trying the .net version,  correct?

He migrated from .com for the forum only. Tuicemen.com has a link to forums.tuicemen.net

I hope Tuicemen can provide more information.
As the link in the later part of the thread works fine for me.
I wounder if your internet provider has it on a bad site list.
Though a 500 error in a search is an internal server error.

Thank you for the clarification. I thought you could not even get to his main page.

If you where already registered before the move to the new site.
Your original ID and password should work. Mine does.

If you have to do a new registration. The server looks like it is having issues with new users.
I just tried a register new user and got a blank screen with no messages at all.

I will bother you good folks on this one more time. This lifejacket thing must have been something that was put out some time ago, then the book was closed on it. I went to the link Tuicemen provided. Clicked on the lifejacket link and got nothing. This thing is a bear. I will wait until Tuicemen addresses his site registration issue then I will try to acquire lifejacket there.
-By the way, this is what I want to do. I want to install AHP (The version Tuicemen provided) on a laptop I have running Windows 7
-My goal is to get the, I watch out, plug in to work
Let me know if I am barking up a tree

Yes lifejacket was puttogether sometime ago but it does work on Windows 7-10  32 or 64 bit.
The link to the software works for me but here it is again:
http://tuicemen.com/downloads/freestuff/ahp_lifejacket_setup.exe
Once installed you must right click on the excututable and run as administrator. ;)

Hey Mic_,

Where in the world did you find the install for LifeJacket?  I have a ton of old X10 stuff and unfortunately need the registration for OnAlert to get some of it to work with AHP.  Can you point me the right direction?

Thanks!
