Title: Help for Scenes
Post by: Tuicemen on January 17, 2018, 10:28:53 AM
Scenes can be a bit of a pain to currently figure out, so I'll start a thread for it.
I expect these to get much more complicated as the app develops.
In esents these are very basic Macros.
Currently you must manualy start these typical in many early hubs and even the voice assistants like Alexa.
The cool thing with these is Unlike AHP macros which once started ran till complete, You can very easily stop them prior to their completion.

The one thing that had me stumped was the delays didn't work the way I expected delays to be handled.

Delays are not a separate option they are tied to a module and the delay is prior to it changing state not after the device has changed state.
So if your Scene starts with A3 on with a delay of 3 mins  then an A4 on with another delay. Then the Scene doesn't turn on A3 until 3 mins and doesn't stop until the delay after A4

I'd think.... asking the programmer to convert the Scenes (delays included) to a mere timed/dusk/dawn function would be MUCH more desirable and appreciated. Most people now-a-days prefer to have a few lights come on at dark.... even when they aren't at home. And I know most people don't like entering dark homes (even their own).

One of my early suggestions was so these could be triggered via  module status change, simular to how Smart macros are triggered in AHP I still think delays are needed just the current layout is confusing (at least to me) :-[
Each device can be triggered via Dusk Dawn or time and day of week, now the options don't show up till you've saved the device.
You need to go back to edit the device the options will be at the bottom. ;)

Very cool... but not intuitive. But then... I had trouble conceptualizing AHP at first too. I had copied the manual to my desktop to read but hadn't got to experiment yet.

Anyone want to screenshot a scene setup? All I can seem to do is name one. Firmware version 0.0.23

I figured it out.

Once I named a scene and saved it, I hit the configuration button and that allowed me to rename it. The keyboard that popped up was blocking my view of the add device tab.

Another simple case of RTFM.

The setup of things (not just scenes) require a save before other options are available. I'm not sure why that is.

Can a scene be triggered by a X10 command? Also, can a scene be linked to a timer?

Currently No!  :(
This option was subited to Authinx and the developer prior to release but focus was placed on bug fixes.
There is a poll in the Wish list section for this, Voting for it will keep it on the top of the developers todo list.

Posting to the thread also helps the developer to understand the reason users wish or don't wish for this.
Posting also keeps that at the top of the wish list topics.

Seems like the bottom line is we keep scenes in AHP and Homeseer, and just use WiFi as a trigger. I have many times suggested a "Palm Pad" with HCUC programmed buttons. I now have it.  :)%

Yes, keeping AHP or other AH software in play is currently required.
All software is limited on initial release so I expect this app to expand in options as users vote on and start polls for adds in the wish list section.
Remember the early AHP macros? Nothing like the smart macros available now. ;)
The good thing is, Authinx is listening! :)%
