I have had one SR227 for years working great then all of the sudden it clicked rapidly and dont work.
Bring it in and tear into it and find the plastic plunger is broke.
Bought 4 more units on Ebay, hooked 2 of them up and and they break their plungers so I am quitting and not trying the rest.
Has anyone tried 3D printing one of these? I have a printer so I am thinking of trying to make one. Or should I just go to the pa011?

The new pa011 from Authinx is of higher quality.
Since you have a printer try making the part.
However the to me rapid clicking indicates a signal storm and since you already have had two more go it appears the signal storm is still present.
I'd do a bit of investigating to try and find the cause.

If you print one, save the cad file. I bet you could sell a couple.

Actually I wasn't getting the rapid clicks until after the plunger breaks. I will need to read up on signal storm.
I was reading on the net that the pa011 didn't have the typical CLICK when activating like the SR227 so I was under the impression they didn't use a coil and was possibly better.

The new PA011 does still make a click it just isn't as loud (not silent).

This has been a recurring problem with the old SR227.
"Old X10" did a bad job on the actuator. The rapid clicking could also be the controller chip re-firing the solenoid because it did not see the change of status on the relay output. Usually this is three rapid fire clicks and then the controller gives up until the next ON (or OFF) X10 command is received.

Many,many years ago I had some SR227's and they all the failed the same way with the triple clicks. I gave up on them and just use the plug-in modules.

One possibility.
If it was Off when it broke.
When trying to turn On. It does not go on to the module tries a few more times and then give up. Click click click.
Until you try an On again.
As other have pointed out. The actuator was a sore spot and frequently failed.

Well I am not having any luck 3D printing a piece this small. So probably the best solution is casting a solid piece.
Looking at the Alumilite products now.
