Title: DST - watch your times this weekend!
Post by: coder since cp290 on April 01, 2005, 07:11:33 PM
This could be an interesting weekend for the
cm15a, in that the change DST hits in most of
the US.

(I'm in one of the few spots that doesn't do
DST, and while my CM15a is always connected,
it's got a lunix app which doesn't set the
date/time except when requested to do so by
the cm15a - which I've never seen unless the
batteries are pulled!)

From the eeprom.txt download files, it does
look as if AHP will have troble at leap year
(they only use days 1 thru 365 it appears),
so it will be interesting to see how DST is
now handled!

Good point. Maybe we will all be surprised
this weekend?

We do have an AHP user in Germany who said
his changeover last week went well. I think
it should go OK. The daylight changeovers are
handled fine for leap years, too. There's
some extra data that we set in the interface
configuration for handling that.

from the ahpeeprom_w.txt file:

0x0018:0x1800011000------------- timer
initiator START -----------
0x0019:0xff11111111b7: conditions 'on';
b6..0: day of week: Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa
0x001a:0x0100000001start day range   1: 1-jan
0x001b:0x6d01101101stop day range 365: 31-dec

So, AHPPRO, has the "logic" in the cm15a been
tested for leap years?  Might be something to
do now, as by the time leap year rolls
around, mo0st units will be out of warentee!

Also, as far as DST, remember I live in a
place where they DONT do it! (AZ, HI, and
parts of Indiana)

Well, since where I live, we don't do DST
(the whole state of AZ), thought I'd post the
results...

Sunrise (and probably sunset) occured at the
proper time, but timers with a specific time
are occuing an hour early (exactly 1 hour),

So, it does appear that there's a problem if
your local doesn't do DST (AZ and parts of
indiana, IIRC)

I run AHP 24/7 and just noticed the time
was off by a hour (day light savings time)
but my computer had the proper time.  The
time would only update by closing AHP and
reopening.
Thanks,
T.

coder since cp290: We did test the time
changes in the leap year. Not only that,
since last year was a leap year, and we
released before the change back to standard
time last year, our users were able to
confirm that it worked.

I also live in Arizona where we never
change our time and all of my timers were
off by one hour

I it looks like the problem is only in
Arizona and other states that don't do DST.
We'll fix it.

HBey X10 Pro,
did you read my post below.  Obviosly AHP
has a problem..Maybe the time was correct
in the CM15A, but it certianly was wrong
within the program.
Tony.
