How about getting the alarm system to
interact with AHP. Something tha lets you
flash exterior lights when arming with key
chain remote in order to confirm the system
is armed. Another item would be to allow
the cameras to focus on the area where the
sensor was triggered.

There is no direct communication between
the alarm system and AHP/CM15A. They are 2
different systems. The only signals you
would get is if the alarm system is able to
send X10 codes, most systems DO NOT. If
they are enabled it is a ONE-WAY STREET -
the alarm system only SENDS a code out, no
receiving. The code does not specify what
triggered the alarm, only that an alarm was
triggered. To make such a system would
require that you duplicate the alarm system
with X10 modules (motion sensors, universal
modules for door/window contacts). I am not
saying it can't be done but with the
current systems it is impossible to do
since they are not compatible or extremely
restricted as to communications
capabilities.

I am referring to the X10 alarm system the
DS7000. This alarm system should work with
AHP.

The cm15a will not properly receive any
security RF signals from sensors. This maybe
different with the latest cm15As my tests
where with an earlier one and Indigo for a
Mac. It showed some sensor messages and
others as unknown RF traffic. APH showed
nothing. You maybe able to set the security
light code being sent on the power line to
trigger a macro in AHP.

According to X10 Pro the CM15A will NOT
receive the security sensors signals. I
refer you to my earlier message. You can
receive a regular RF X10 signal from a
PROPERLY ENABLED alarm system BUT it will
only be an ALRAM TRIGGERED - ALL LIGHTS ON
and ALL LIGHTS OFF signal - it will not be
from an individual sensor and you will NOT
BE ABLE TO TURN THE ALARM ON OR OFF.

The CM15A does receive the X10 security RF signals. I've
seen it with Indigo on my Mac. With the right programing,
AHP and the CM15A would be able to control/react to the
X10 security system.

I have seen some security codes in Indigo
but some where flagged as unknown. That may
just be the software itself. Mine was a
trial 1.6 Beta

I Agree with Paul the flashing lights while
arming would be nice.
For those who don't understand, the alarm
system flashes lights during a alarm(same
house code). So, the alarm itself could do
it. But, it would have to be a new version
of alarm system.
If you have the system in a central area,
you cannot here it arm or disarm.
Yes the alarm system doesn't communicate to
AHP.

Active home lets you create module for
alarm system DS7000 assign address says
its turning on OR off but is actualy
doing nothing. Has anyone been able to get
this feat accomplished ??????

DMiller: From what I have read, the module
for the alarm system DSR7000 is only to
tell the CM15a not to transceive that house
code in Auto Transceive mode since it has a
built in transceiver. I would expect
having a switch on the module is accidental
and all it is doing is turning Unit 1 of
that house code on and off.

The on-off transmitted by the DS7000(when in
alarm mode)occurs at too fast of a rate to
trigger a macro in the Active Home Pro. It
has been suggested in the Wish List forum
for future updates of CM15A to have macros
respond to on-off sent from DS7000. Perhaps
enough requests from users will make this
happen. Another request to X10 to make a
smoke detector for the DS7000 was ignored.
So I have been sucessful at incorporating a
battery powered smoke detector into the
DS7000 security System. When smoke detected,
the DS7000 will call my cell and/or
neighbor. Break in or fire can be determined
by listening for smoke detector sound. Cost
around thirty dollars depending on cost of
items in your area. If interested, you can
find directions for this on the X10 Security
Forum.

I am sure the reason that the CM15A and AHP
software does not recognize the alarm
equipment codes is because with the
conditional logic of AHP you could build
your own alarm system and would not need to
buy the DS7000. I am running a Smarthome
1132CU with Home Control Assistant software
and a WGL W800 transciever. This
combination allows me to use the
window/door sensor and the security system
motion sensor. I do not own an X10 alarm
system so I can't comment on the commands
from the controller. However, with the
eqiopment I am using, I can build my own
X10 security system.

The X10 protocol is very slow. With 60Hz
power it takes almost half a second to
transmit either an address or a function.
I don’t know how fast the DS7000 flashes
the lights, but there probably isn’t enough
time to do anything useful between
flashes. I also suspect it doesn’t have
collision protection, so if you tried to
send a command between flashes, if you
weren’t finished in time, the DS7000 would
interrupt your message.
The only way this could work is if the
DS7000 could send a single on command when
the alarm starts and an off command when it
finishes. The CM15a could then be
programmed to do the rest. If the DS7000
can’t do this, there is not much the CM15
could do.

The DS7000 sends an All Lghts ON and All
Units OFF on the house code set on the house
code dial. About 1 to 2 seconds from my line
signal observations. Both Powerhorns will
respond to either an ON OFF cycle on the
house-unit code they are set to or the All
Lights ON All Units OFF signals. Those with
the X10 OEM Radio Shack 49-1000. Example
house code B unit 1. It sends a B1 B2 B ON
then a B1 B2 B OFF.
