I get them too, and I work here. I'll see if
there's anything we can do about them.

Me to. Started not to long ago. For awhile
it was no popups! My XP Popup blocker shows
a waring. I think I can add X10 to the
forbidden list.

Not pop-ups, there are technically pop
unders. Suppossed to be less obtrusive :)

There is a cookie that controlls them. A
while back I did a search on Google, and
found the link. That link disabled the
popups for 30 days. But if you change one
value in the link, you can set that number
of days to anything you want. changing it to
3650 should give you ten years of ppup-free
X10 web surfing. I don't know if this
solution works any longer.

Pou Unders. That is what X10 lost a big law
fight in court and then declared bankruptcy.
That was a few years ago so things maybe
different.

A FREE solution is to go to www.Downloads.com
and look for Panicware's Pop-Up-Stopper Free
Edition..  It is a small download and seems
to block lots of pop-ups, unders and arounds
that try to get by the browser privacy
settings. You can enable, disable from the
task bar and has an uninstall. Has other
options and Worked with Mozilla.  Worked well
for me. No more annoying pop unders !

X10 even spams their own employees. This is
just a reflection of how hack X10 really is.

See X10, this is a thread telling you how
upset users are with this type of tactic.
Still, you put this malware out.

Way to win us over. Maybe they should move
the spam department into the AHP bug fixing
department and kill two birds with one stone.

Hooray for Noads.

Yeah Joe, Pop unders sucking bandwidth on
the forum is pure scum.

We are already carrying X10's water by
constantly informing confused CM15A users,
about all the "minor" instructions X10
appearently did not think users needed to
know and neglected putting in the manual.
Brian H has probably put instructions for
getting the CM15A to trancieve house codes
on the forum at least a hundred times. (Who
needs to know that?)

So now, when waiting for a forum download I
have to watch everything stop while a pop
under sneaks in. It is a real p*sser.

NOAM:

Thank you!

Not sure if it worked yet, but I got a
message saying it would be 30 days before
the next ad!

Noam, For those of us that block cookies,
that does not seem to work.

Panicware's Pop-Up Stopper Free edition
does seem to work for me but it is still
irritating to have a pop-under on this forum.

... and to X10...
We already receive X10's mass mailings EVERY
DAY, get Ads at the top of the forum and now
POP-Unders ON the forum...  and we sure don't
need this !  We are already customers.  We
are here to share experiences and get help
for your products.  It's like the store that
has a sales rep follow you around while you
shop.... If the business is TOO pushy we
start looking elsewhere...  VERY ANNOYING !

If any where near as much time and effort
went into AHP programming instead of to ads
and new ways to slip them in, just think....

I bet folks that are looking at their e-mail
ads are getting torqued too....constant pop
ups...
Maybe they will send their feelings to Mr.
Dave Ralston  the new X10 General Manager.
In my opinion, their advertising is out of
control, pushy and repetitive.

I hate having to use yet another pop blocker.
I.E. and Mozilla have done ok at blocking
pop ups/unders etc until now.  I thought
about adding X10.com to the HOSTS file
located in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc
but that would block the site completely and
I don't want that just yet.  It is just
disgusting to have to put up with pop unders
on this forum.     Elsewhere is ok but on
their own customers forum ?  That is awful !

Steve,

Looks like your complaining has done some
good. I have visited the forums twice today
and did not get the pop up/under upon
exiting.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,
I FOUND A SOLUTION !
I eliminated the pop unders with Mozilla and
I.E.
I downloaded a great little program called :
ALL-in-one-SECRETMAKER from www.downloads.com
This is a great little program: Spam and
Worm Protection, SpyWare and Intruder
Protection, Profiling and Tracking
Protection, Betray and Evidence Protection
and did a GREAT job blocking the ADS from
X10.  Of course you can put on so much
protection that their banners no longer
appear but it is EASY to use and adjust with
their niffty littel one click menu system.
Best of all , the program is TOTALLY FREE.
Has all kinds of blocker options, easy to
set up and sets up default not to do much
blocking.  Clicking on the box to block pop
ups did the pop under too and even with a
audible voice confirming the action.  It
even covers e-mail, white lists, privacy
protection and cookie blocking... quite
versatile... Now I am a happy X10 forum user
again !   Even got an update today...all is
well on the gulf coast !
Regards,
SteveRF

Guys,

We should not really have to put up with
this. The way I see it, this forum is
primarily for bug feedback to X10, for their
benefit more than ours. We as customers have
to put up with identifying the bugs and then
reporting them in the hopes that X10 will
address them. WE ARE THE BETA TESTERS.

For X10 to do anything like pop unders, spam
or any other malware we inherite as users of
X10 products is completely disgusting. Face
it, due to our investment in X10 hardware and
software, we are a captive audience and the
upper management at X10 definately knows that.

X10 is a bad company, rotten from the neck up
as well as the neck down. I for one regret
ever getting into this pickle. Unfortunately
the only complete solution is dumping all my
X10 hardware and not many are willing to do
that so we just have to put up with the BS
with spyware blockers and pop up blockers and
all other manner of blockers. I for one have
added x10 to my spam list so at least I dont
have to read the crap they email me. That
plus norton internet security and I have
pretty much eliminated X10's evil influence
on my system. At least until they find
another way to worm into it.
