Title: AHP v3.200 still crashing during downloading & unreliable macros
Post by: Eric Edberg on February 01, 2006, 07:31:51 PM
AHP 3.200 is still crashing after the
upgrade during CM15a download.

Problem with v3.199 which had unreliable
macros & events and occasionally crashing
SW.

Installed SW update & restarted AHP.
Tested a previously created unreliable
macro.  It still did not work 100%.
Deleted macro.
Created a new macro & added several events
(lights off) and 2 RF Tx events which never
worked at all.
Downloaded to 15a ok.
Tested macro and it worked ok! Even both RF
events which never worked.....    Yeah I
thought.
Update that macro & added several more
events.
Tried to download and AHP crashed about 90%
of the way through the download.
Restarted AHP, cleared memory & downloaded
ok this time.

Tested same macro again and NONE of the
events worked.

Deleted offending macro.
Created yet again another new macro with
only 3 events in it (1 line off & 2 RF Off
commands)
Download ok

Triggered macro
The line off command worked, but neither of
the 2 RF commands worked that had just
mysteriously worked for the very first time
worked.  Sigh.....

***** SmartMacro's still broke?

Eric,

I had some problems when I accidently
created two macros of the same code.  Or,
maybe you have a DEVICE associated with the
code already.

Eric: Can you send the macros (the .AHX file)
that are causing the crashes to me at
ahpsupport@x10.com? I'd like to try to
reproduce this here.

Came home from work today and tested some more.

Deleted yesterday's offending macro
Created a new macro and added 8-10 TX events
(all off)
Created 4 timers to fire the macro during the
night
Saved the changed
cleared memory
Downloaded to cm15a
Similar to before, it crashed when near
completion.
Restarted ahp
cleared memory again
download succeeded....
This is similar to the orginal problem I
reported yesterday.

Sorry, but I did not save my configuration
before coming to the office to read the
thread again.

I'll ship off the current .AXH file.

The problem seems to only occure when
creating new macros (or changing existing
ones) when you try to download the first time.

After it crashes, the download seems to work
after a restart.

I'll save the file and see if yet a third
"longer" macro crash can be repeated again
and also verify the MACRO numbering again.
Just before, I put all macros in the
macro-room that I created for this purpose
and verified that the all had different triggers.

Thanks for the help though!

Just tested again...
Was able to get it to crash a 3rd time.
Deleted all macros and timers first.
Then created a macro with about 10 device off's
Downloaded ok.
Then created a macro with 5 on's w/dims.
When trying to download this 2nd macro it
crashed.

Send both AXH file to technical support just now.

I have the files and am working on
reproducing the problem.

I have recently downloaded AHP version 3.20
and since I've experienced software
lockups, timers very erratic in that a
programmed light for the living room floor
lamp for instance, set to come on at a
security programmed time of 4:20 PM, comes
on anywhere from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.  I
have found the lights coming on several
hours earlier than they are suppose to, on
all of the other modules whether they be
wall switch or regular lamp modules even
for a security setting.  Do you plan on a
complete new re-write of the code or do you
think you can fix this problem.  I've had
timer issues as far back as the old serial
CM11A controller but I've fixed that by
changing the batteries, that does not fix
the problem with the CM15A controller.
Note, this timer problem and software
lockup did not just start with 3.20, I've
had it with 3.19?, it just seemed to carry
over to the new software version.  Also for
some reason, when plugging in the USB cable
into the controller, the computer does not
recognize the controller, I have to remove
at least one battery to get the computer to
see the controller, then make my editing
changes.
