Title: Are the plugins worth it?
Post by: john on May 10, 2005, 03:23:28 AM
I've been an X10 user for many many years now
and I was just curious what all of you
thought about the plugins and if you think
they are worth the extra cost? Personally I
think they should be included in the cost of
the hardware itself or at least in with the
Active home Pro software instead of really
milking us for each and every addon but I
suppose that's just my opinion. I'm just not
sure I want to keep spending more and more.
You can contact me privately if you wish to
discuss this at jcdinpgh@gmail.com.

plugins are only as good as you make them
personaly I tink the smartmacros is a must
have. The others I can live with out there
are some cool addon programs being developed
using the SDK which you can find here and at
www.accessx10.com which are just as good if
not better then the plugins. EG. X10dispatch
or BillsX10VoiceControl.

I asked that question to X10Pro myself.
Wondered if the software was STABLE and
FUNCTIONAL since they had been out a
while.  Followed advice and purchased.

It is now months later and the macros I
want to use still WILL NOT WORK.  If you
have faith, as I still at this time do, go
for it.

If you want to use X10 cameras and iWitness
with SM, then you will not find another
product to compare to for the price.  But
you will be waiting for bug fixes and
possibly some additional hardware purchases
(RF reception to unload tasks from the
CM15A).

My experience so far, and still waiting.
