Title: CM15A current fixes list
Post by: david k on May 01, 2005, 09:30:39 PM
X10Pro

I think it would be a good idea to list the
known bugs with CM15A and AHP, SM and
iWitness.  This would help me and may stem
a hord of posts if you already know the bugs
(fixes) coming.  How about it?  You have a
list already I'm sure.  Why not share it?

Since I don't see any response here to the
request maybe I'll ask again.

Can you list your KNOWN CONFIRMED bugs (not
fixed)?  It would be a great help to all of
us.

Thanks

There is not enough hard drive space
available in the forum to list them all.

Wouldn't it be better to release Activehome
pro code. I think the bugs would be fixed
alot faster than they are actually fixed now.
GNU or The General Public License would do a
lot of good to the activehome pro name as it
is now known as buggy. I know its not easy to
make a good software but it would help.

At least release the sdk properly ( not an
activex that link AHP with you program) but a
sdk that tell you how to program the
interface and use the drivers of the CM15A to
make our own program.

Why don't Hyrules and Carmine get together
to develop a replacement system and provide
a supporting forum.  I've got another $50 to
spend.

You get what you pay for, quality cost, I
do not work for peanuts, and personally I
have worked for the industrial market, I do
not want to deal with consumer products .
If X10 implements some of my suggestions
they would need to sell the CM15a for at
least $100 + software, and many people on
this forum are to cheap to pay for.
If you are really serious about home
automation have a look at this web site

http://www.csi3.com/HV_Pro.HTM

but of course is more than $50( ~$900).

I am looking for a sprinkler module with
reliable fail safe, so far no luck, I may
need to build my own.

Carmine:

Have you looked at WGL & Associates
products.  Their sprinkler has a default
shut off to prevent flooding.

Yes, it looks good, so far is the best
option.
I need the following options as a add on,
external devices OK:

1)a low cost flow meter , used to shutdown
system if flow rate exceed a set point
(typical when sprinkler water line breaks).

2)Rain sensor with actual precipitation
measurement, to skip watering days based on
actual amount of rain, and only on selected
lines.

Our summer (when we get it) can be very
short but anywhere from very dry to very
wet, I do purge the sprinkler in fall
(September) but some times I have some
heads failure after being back in operation
for few days, and if  I miss it , my water
bill goes way up.
I am looking for a tamper proof system;
basically similar to my alarm panel: I can
send X10 commands, once I access my panel
from any phone, but there is no way that
X10 commands can alter or disable my alarm
settings.

Programmers

Why don't you guys start your own thread
that has SOMETHING to do with the post
subject so we don't have to search through
this stuff for the assistance, if anyone
ever answers?  Or better yet send each
other your email addresses so you can stop
taking up space here with this stuff....

Thanks

I did not realize that asking for X10
compatible accessory was against this forum
policy. There are people in this forum who
are controlling sprinklers with X10 based
devices, I only ask for their ideas and
what equipment are using, you have a choice
to read on not to read it. More than 80% of
the home control I have is X10 ( the
company) I have as much right to be here as
anybody else, I am X10 customer. If you do
not like my posts then every time you see
my name skip past, or read it, you may
learn something.

Carmine and anonymus

This post has nothing to do with someone
providing programming serrvices to X10 or
sprinkler systems.  I am sure you can see
and understand that, ya'll being so smart
and all.

If you want something from X10 you should
try emailing them or posting your own post
on the wish list forum.  I think that is
what is it for.  If you have a summary list
of known, documented bugs I would like to
see it, otherwise....

PS  If I did not already know how to play a
wind instrument, I could learn something
from you!

Thanks and good luck with your sprinklers.

X10 Pro used to sell a Pro Irrigation
Controller, it would control up to 8
stations, max time limit 90 min before auto
shut down. You may find one on ebay. I bought
one about 3 years ago it has been running
fine since installation. The part number was
PIC10.

I can see that X10 is very eager to answer
your question.
There are many bugs at the firmware level
and at the PC software AHP + plugins.
This product tries to do to much with the
hardware provided, to make matter worse the
chip used in the CM15a has some flaws of
it’s own and the manufacture (cypress)will
not fix it , the new chip (encore II
series) has different pin-out and different
developing tools; why I know all this: the
Cypress Encore II series is PSOC based (
Programmable System On Chip) I use more
that 1000 PSOC chips a month.
The current CM15a(diagnostic version) for
some people it may work Ok and this it’s
not related to the number of devices
controlled but rather on complexity of the
macros and the use of motion detectors can
have great impact on system reliability .
X10 has already stated that they will not
fix the hardware, if you hope for a miracle
keep on waiting.

Ron W

Thanks for the info, what I need it appears
it’s not available, I am making my own
sprinkler control.

Carmine,

I guess you do not have a list since you
did not comment on it. Just gave us all
another debunk of the chip sets used in the
CM15A and how it will never work like it
would if you had done it (I cannot remember
how many times in other posts you have
stated the same thing).

I'll just start another post clean and hope
someone who can give some usefull feedback
will bother.

Thanks again and luck on the sprinklers.

I do not need luck, just some free time,
sprinkler controller is a simple design.
You going to need a lots of luck to get
answer from X10.Like yourself I did not get
any answer while I was using the CM15a, the
same day I published some of the hardware
flaws and the chip flaws I got an email
with RMA, and as soon as they received my
the CM15a back I got another email: I was
credited for the full amount.
I am not a PC programmer, but I know this
kind of hardware.
Sorry if I disturbed your thread, but
nobody was posting anything until I did, I
did not intended to offend you or anybody
else, we are all victim of cleaver
marketing.

Unless I am mistaken, I believe this forum
is for users of AHP software and add-ins.

David K, I agree !
Now, back to the Thread Topic.

correctly in the Status Report for the CM15A
Diag 04J44/and/or other units: Will this
glitch be addressed in the next software
release ?
