Title: XC10A wireless cam only giving static
Post by: msimmons on April 09, 2005, 10:27:21 AM
I have two XC10A cam's that I purchased used
and one is only giving static. I have tried
and made sure that all of "obvious" stuff
like:
The cameras & receiver are all set to house
code "A."
I tried the non-working one with the working
one's power supply so I believe the problem
has to be with the camera itself... any
other things to test or try?
thanks,
michael

I assume from the non-response no one as an
answer?

Are they in range?

I assume they all have static.  Mine always
did.  I now use wired XCams.  Do people
actually get good performance without
static?  I assumed everyone had static.

Oddly enough I tried it again this weekend
and it worked fine. I'm monitoring my house
from the office as we speak using three
different cameras :)
I think there is a problem with the antenna
wire (again was bought used, no fault of x-
10, I've never had a problem w/x-10) and so
I just have it monitoring the room that the
receiver is in.

Hi MSIMMONS,these wireless cams can work
great one day and be washed out the
next.Depends on weather and eletronic
interferance around them, such as 2.4 Gh
phones,wireless rotors and microwaves and
so on.As far as the cam thats all static,it
may be a dud. Like Joel says, are they in
range. The range will vary with what walls
they have to go through.I have one 150 feet
on a lampost and works great.X10 says it
won't do that. It is in line of sight, the
receiver in a plexie glass box under the
roof eve, then the wire runs to the monitor
another 30 feet.I do lose signal when I
move ninja too far.The small part I lose I
don't want to see there anyway.I also
removed the antenna from another
cam, spliced in couple of feet of coax so I
could mount it in a better spot. You need a
small soldering iron for this.It also
doesn't move with this ninja.Hope you sort
out your receiption problems and maybe some
ideas.
