Title: Infrared Lights for XCAMs
Post by: christopher glenn on April 30, 2005, 01:03:33 PM
I had read that all I needed was an IR light
to allow XCAMs to see in the dark.  Bought
one for $50--does nothing for the X10 wired
Nightcam.   What's the deal (I know the IR
light was working as I brought my video
camera in there to see it)?  Has anyone ever
got the XCAMs to work with an IR light?  I
guess there is some debate about IRs only
working with CCD cams and not with CMOS cams...

Hi Christopher, I never had any luck with
cmos cams and infrared. All of my CCD cams
will light up with the IR. Not sure if that
helps.

Christopher, the X-10 cameras do not
respond to infared. You can get a floodcam
or a remote switch controlled be motion
sensor to turn on lights but that is only
way to see at night. Even the low light cam
is worthless at night without a light
sourse other than infrared.
