Title: ADT or Brinks
Post by: jeremy on June 14, 2004, 12:50:14 PM
Has anyone integrated these systems with ADT or
Brinks?

Can't say that I have, or that I would want
to.  I'd rather not pay monthly fees and use
the protector plus system.  Door & window
sensors, and motion sensors are all that I
need and I've got a keychain remote for
everyone that needs to use it.  I wish I
would have done this years ago!

It's something I'm looking into myself. I
think some of the system should be
compatible to be able to link, but I haven't
heard back from my contacts yet.

ADT and Brinks security are a reputable
company that install both wired and
wireless systems.  If ADT and Brinks home
security has a home automation rely switch
built in you can use x-10 automation items
with the system.  As for triggering an
alarm with the door/window sensors or
motions sensors, no.  Now unless you can
program the transmitters into a receiver
that is on the same radio frequency ie:
315MHZ than you can connect that receiver
to the terminals of a hardwired system.  So
if an x10 transmitter sends a signal the
receiver will respond and send a
closed/open circuit to the main control
panel.  I don't know of any company that
this would work, unless you purchase linear
security products, where you can purchase
there wireless DX system transmitters and
program it to there receiver.

With X10 units not having any feed back
whether instructions are executed, as well
as the status of a module, it is not
reliable enough to use as security system.
