Title: Thermostat Control triggered by window open
Post by: future value company on September 26, 2005, 08:19:10 PM
I have a large client that would like turn
of the thermostat whenever clients open a
window.  Does any one have any ideas on how
I could do this?

You could attach a magnetic contact switch
pair to the window (the type that normally
connects to our DS10A Door/Window Sensor),
but instead connect the contacts to our
PF284 interface. (Don't need a DS10A). Set
the PF284 to send an on command to an X10
module when the window is opened, and an off
command when the window is closed. Then
attach our Thermostat Setback Controller,
TH2807 under the thermostat and connect it
to an Appliance Module that the PF284 sends
to. Then when the window is opened the
thermostat would be "setback" I.e., turned
off. And turned back on when the window is
closed.

If you understand this solution, then it
should be possible to accomplish what is
desired with a little "tinkering".
