Title: Voltage distance for transformers
Post by: one home solutions on October 02, 2005, 08:06:52 PM
How far can I extend the voltage feed to a
camera and still have the camera function
optimally? I have done some homes where I ran
the plug in the attic, spliced into the line
from the transformer for about an extra 20
feet of power feed. How much farther can I
go, or what is the calculation to help me
determine a voltage run per feet / voltage drop?

There are many variables for a specific
solution, but we've tested it with 300 ft.
of wire, with no noticeable degradation. Try
it out, it'll probably be OK.
