I have a JDS Timecommander unit that appears to have a bad comm interface - hooking up serial cable to WinEVM (Event Manager) shows no connection. I have a 2nd Timecommander that works using same interface (Cable-WinEVM). Is there anyone who repairs Timecommanders? Or has the serial interface chipset(s)?

I was poking around and found that the Wayback Machine seems to have all of these articles archived with images intact! You can still view them currently via this URL:

Glad to hear you found it. Adding a choke to the LED lights can prevent this from happening in the future.

I believe that I finally found my problem with the lights not working. I replaced the LED bulbs in the landscape lights and now they work as intended. The LED bulbs were four years old and one must have been degraded. The bulbs were Halco 16-watt LED BR40 5000K bulbs. Thanks for all the input.

So my Nokia 2 which is essentially a home remote control is no longer supporting my Thermostat app as it tops out at Android 7.1.1 .
This phone, although not having a large screen was perfect for viewing and using the X10 WIFI app and it would display the full device names instead of 4 or 5 letters with a bunch of stupid dots even though there is plenty of room. My Motorola G despite being larger in screen size and using the smallest display setting still truncates the device names. What small tablets (8 in or smaller) or Android devices display the best for you? This is the Nokia 2 below.... |

My favorite would have been the SmartHome ToggleLinc except the life span was too short. They made those switches for a very short time with a near OG X10 price point (around $15/ea). I bought a couple to try and realized they were great! But, by the time I had time to test them, the price had shot up to $45 (when on sale) while the standard WS467 was still around $5. I wish I could have bought a bunch of those original ToggleLinc (and RelayLinc) switches and replaced everything X10 for my switch use!

I have to say I really love the in-wall light switches with soft start. I have at least 20 of them installed in my home. Nice to be in bed and tell Alexa to turn off the bedroom lights in 15minutes.
An old favorite was I think the PR511 floodlight with motion sensor / 8 code transmitter. Was great to have for security - mounted on garage, would fire the local floods and turn on both front and back porchlights on the house. Used the photocell channels to turn on lights inside the house. It was too bad they did not make them out of UV resistant plastic. |
