I have done a mod, where the Triac dimming element is replaced by a solid state switch. Basically it then can control small devices like low voltage lights etc. It is then on or off with one weakness. If you try and dim it nothing happens until the trigger voltage on the SSR is too low; maybe around 50%; then it just goes off. Also you have to remember it will respond to an All Lights ON so what is controlled should be considered.

I will find the link to the project and then edit this post.

Thanks, your link is very interesting...
A silent modification is expensive   and the heat which it releases is alarming for the fires.

Maybe I will try this, but I thought a method just to disable DIM function !!!  Maybe is it possible to cut anything in module ?

  I have two others solutions:
- Isolate (in my SS13A) a button DIM and Bright and to prevent
my children that press these buttons by error !
- Buy a Silent Appliance module SmartHome !

If you, or anyone have others idea, you are welcome !

Thanks

Mine runs perfectly cool. As long as you don't overload it as pointed out. No fuse will go till it dies.  :o
I did also do one from Black and Decker [made by X10] and it did have a fuse in it for an overload on the output.
Yes it is not a cheap mod, though wholesale the SSR was quite reasonable.
Most of the Smarthome X10 compatible modules are being phased out for the Insteon ones that can also be programmed with an X10 Primary Address. All the ApplianceLinc V2s where fixed for the problem of smoking with some loads when turned off . I had two of them.

No the dimming function in a lamp module can not be disabled. Could you use a "Socket Rocket" in your application? The Socket Rocket is an X10 light socket that can not dim.

Brian H:

Thanks very much for the LINK to Thierry's site! I've read many of his posts over the years on the NG, but wasn't aware that he put up his own site - do you recall when?  Excellent pictures! 8)

I added a direct LINK and descriptions to your post - I hope you don't mind. ;)

I don't know when he did his own site. I found it from idobartina's site showing the silent mods.
Links are good no problems here. Software and links are not my best feature.
