wired cameras mounted on the ninja pan and tilt
« on: January 12, 2007, 01:38:28 AM »

has anyone ever mounted and used the wired cams on a ninja pan and tilt and if so how did you wire them or did you have to use a power supply for each and then address them the same or how to do it?

I used double-sided tape to mount a wired cam to the opposite side of a ninja tilt base...that still had the wireless cam in its proper position.  The wirless cam is needed to receive the signal from the remote controller.  The wired cam is fed into my TV, whereas the wireless cam is fed into my computer's Vanguard system.  Because there is no sense in trying to pan the Ninja more than few degrees (because the antenna will move itself out of proper reception alignment), I now can at least get a view of about 270 degrees...with both cams.

I've Had a wired X10 cam mounted to a ninja for a while now!
Actually have a few other none X10 ones now!
The X10 one I have wired into a video sender which is plugged into a appliance module with the same address as the ninja ;)
The others are wired direct to the PC and on a appliance module the same address as the ninjas there mounted to! ;)

All of my cams (wired) are on Ninja's. Three of them are non X10 but at this time they are all powered up full time. They feed into a video switch which switches the video to the computer. I use AHP only to switch the Ninja's. This allows me to view one camera while aiming another to a preset setting on one of the other Ninja's.  Since the power pack plugs into the end of the cameras cable it could be up to 150 to 200 feet away from where the ninja gets its power.

I found that with wired X10 cams they best mount on a vertical surface so I use a 1 x 2 block of wood mounted vertically on the ninja and then mount the camera to the vertical surface. This gives me good control of the tilt portion on the ninja so I can look down. Just be sure to leave a loop of cable coming from the camera so when you move it around it won't tug the cable tight. Also make it hang low to allow it to drip water off if you mount it outside.
