Hardware Selection Help
« on: February 13, 2007, 03:38:42 PM »

A while ago I purchased a ds7000 package, but i want more control. So I have been looking into interfacing to my Linux system, which is also running Zoneminder. I haven't been able to really find any info on receiving the data from the rf sensors and controls to my Linux serial or usb ports.

I have the following sensors and remotes:

ms10a motion sensors
ds10a door/window sensors
sh624 remote
kr10a keychain remote

what hardware do i need to interface to them?

Check out Heyu - X10 Automation for Linux, Unix, and Mac OS X.  (http://www.heyu.org)  It operates the X-10 CM11A interface.

I'm putting the final touches on an enhancement to use the W800RF32A serial X10 receiver (http://www.wgldesigns.com) as an auxiliary input to Heyu.  This receiver can capture the RF signals from X-10 security remotes and sensors as well as standard X10 RF.  I've included decoders for each of the remotes and sensors you mention.

I expect to release the enhanced software within the next week or two.  Join the heyu_users forum (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/heyu_users) for an announcement by email or just keep checking the Heyu website.

If you haven't seen the announcement elsewhere, the new release of Heyu I mentioned is now available from the website (http://www.heyu.org).
